I understand the need for what P90X refers to as a transition week. I seldom take much off from my training program, yes, I acknowledge that I'm probably doing it wrong. When I do take a week or so off, it's usually due to sickness or injury. What I'm inquiring is what is the best method for an "off" week, is cold turkey, chilling out doing anything physical, or something similar to P90X's transition system? If a thread already exists, I'll do burpees for my infraction. ETA: I tend to train MON-FRI, if I miss a day SAT is used for make-ups.
-MON: Chest/Back-Mostly push ups and pull ups with dumbell rows and an array of dumbell presses.
-TUES: Legs-Squats, deadlifts, lunges…
-WED: Tris/Bis-Curls, skull crunchers, press downs, dips…
-THURS: Kettlebell circuit followed by pullups & heavy bag work…
-FRI-Shoulder/Lats..
The training consists of super and compound sets, they usually change every 3 weeks or so. I maintain form and all reps are done with maximum focus and intensity, Abs/core consists of varying degrees of planks, crunches, and sit ups. 30 min of cardio x3, usually Mon, Wed, & Fri-this usually consists of running or a Pre-Cor circuit.
I try to keep the sessions within an hour...
