Just picked this brand new blued magnum long action receiver up from the shop. I am going to barrel this in 300WM, I have a #8 profile Shilan barrel blank sitting on the shelf plus an AI 700 FDE stock with 3 AI 5 round mags.

Sounds like a good project. I have never shot a 300WM because of the recoil yet I remember a time in an indoor 100 yard range about 30-40 yards wide for lanes and I am at one end and a guy shooting a 300WM at the other end. I am just plinking with my 22lr and several other handguns and he shot one round. Enclosed space. Thought I got kicked in the chest from the concussion pressure. I walked out and asked what the hell was that. He shot right after and I see the glass ripple back and forth and they RO said is was a 300WM. I said cool let me know when he is do so I can go back in there. He showed up after I did or I would have know before hand. Great round yet in an in door range I didn't like it and I wasn't shooting it.

Bolt knob is done along with cleaning up the receiver threads and squaring up the bolt face and receiver face...will work on getting the barrel blank threaded tomorrow.

I am torn between a 300 wm or a 6.5 cm for my next rifle.
Looks like you are not cutting any corners.

How did you true the receiver?

I used the Manson receiver accurizing system that Brownell's sells.. I used it to also do my 30-06 project few years ago..
