Most of the actions in this thread cost more than I have in this entire rifle. Though it is probably not "tactical" enough for this thread. Stock and action were bought as a complete 6.5x300Wby bench rifle. It was not the factory single shot FN action I had hoped, so I sold the barrel and bolt on eBay, got my money back. Action is interesting (to me) and heavily modified below the wood line with accuracy in mind. Bolt is a factory FN .222 bolt which is stupid rare. Picked it up for lowball bid at an online auction. They didn't show the bolt face and I didn't know what it was until is showed up. Barrel is unknown maker from a large (100+) barrel lot purchased at a dead gunsmith auction. (If it shoots, I have its twin.) Suppressor is an off brand from an out of business manufacturer. Low ball bid at their bankruptcy auction. Japanese Tasco 8x-32x w/ 1/8th minute dot. These scopes are amazing values & sleepers. When the Japanese made versions show up, I snag them. I had to take this one out of its original box..... Machine work and barrel were part of a trade with a local gunsmith. For a complete commercial Mauser action he barreled four actions including this one. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/119347/20230913_150950_jpg-2953867.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/119347/20230913_151006_jpg-2953868.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/119347/20230913_151038_jpg-2953869.JPG View Quote Can't led thread die... First shots out of this rifle. No barrel prep, no cleaning between shots. Bore sighted at 25 yards. Zero confirmed at 50 yards. Suppressor installed to see if zero shifted. Ammo purchased at auction. Load not known. Stable rest! Attached File Aiming point is .32 caliber hole from daughters boyfriend Win 94 rifle. Five shots at 100 with called flier. Attached File |

Nice.
I saw a GB auction for a 98 action with custom 223 bolt for $400 something. I passed. |

I have another .222 Rem on an FN single shot.....with a magnum bolt face. You do need the correct extractor. With the magnum bolt face, as you extract the case just drops on the action floor for easy removal. |

Yeah, I figured all I needed to do was fit a longer extractor, that’s why I passed.
As much as I love 98’s I don’t need a 223 single shot. |

I just took off the rail/bipod and stock pouch. It was about a pound and a half. I'm going to shoot for a few weeks and see if I miss them enough to put them back on. |
