I purchased a Like new Rem 700 Sendero II 300 RUM & put it into a McMillan A5 Adj stock & had CDI install a DBM
Ken Farrel 20 MOA steel Scope Base, NightForce Extreme 34MM Rings, Atlas Bipod & Vortex Razor HD II FFP 4.5-27X56MM EBR 2C

I will just be using this rifle for long range steel shooting.   I will have the action trued with the barrel change.

Does 300 Win Mag make the most sense?

Thanks,
John

300 win mag makes sense. Curious why your not liking the rum.

What are your goals for the gun. 300win mag will send lead far down range but isn't all that fun to shoot a lot.  Something like a 7 saum on the long action could be a very fun long range range.  Just depends what you want to do with it.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm not a re-loader...........can I get the best out of the 300 RUM with factory ammo?

Just looking to shoot steel up to 1,500 yrds at our farm range in NJ.

You should get a long barreled 6.5CM. It's a little sketch st the long end but buying heavy 300WM loads from the store will break you.

This is really the only thing that sort of makes sense. 300rum ammonis expensive and I'm not aware of fActory match ammo. You'll also kill your wallet and shoulder shooting it.  I'd seriously look at buying something in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Throw a good brake on it and run it as is. You won't be able to use your bolt anyways with a 300rum to 300wm. You could always go 375h&h though! The target is at 900yrds. 208 amax is very hard on the steel. My 300wm doesn't even dent it with 190smk. Granted that is ar400 but still it sounds like someone is hitting a frying pan with a hammer right next to you.

Who loads 208s in 300 RUM?

I know the action length/bolt face are the same for .300WM/.300 RUM, but aren't the action rails/ways opened up a bit for .300 RUM?

ETA:  I guess they are the same in all dimensions inside the action, just mag box.
