My question is on glass, looking at the Vortex 6-24x50 but don't know what the difference is between the PST and the HST. What makes the PST $300 more and is it worth it? Am I better off buying once and crying once? OR should I really cry and go for the Razor

Also, what's a good mount?
What about reticles?

Current range only goes to 200meters, but they intend to open it up to 400, then 600 then 1000meters(but there is no set date for when these distances will happen, they're moving dirt but it's a slow process for them as the budget allows). I haven't done much long range shooting because I haven't had a place to go, but if they follow through that will be changing. So don't want to get a scope that would be good for now but if I try to stretch it out as the range (and hopefully my skill) progress would need to be replaced later

The PST has an etched reticle with numbers and it's illuminated. As far as I know those are the only differences between the PST and the HST. I have the Gen1 PST and I love it. I have mine on 1.45" Vortex Precision rings. Reticle is personal preference but I prefer the EBR-1 MOA. As a fellow newb, it seemed simpler and it's what I have on my other rifles. As far as the Razor vs Viper I was looking at the Razor but found a killer deal on my Gen1 PST. Not disappointed with it at all.

Difference between the 6-24x HST and GenI PST (second focal plane model) is wire vs. etched reticle, no illumination vs. with illumination, VMR vs. EBR reticle.

HSTs have no FFP model.

Is the reticle really worth $300???

What does the knob do by the ocular lens on the PST? The HST doesn't have one there

That is the battery compartment and controls for the illuminated reticle. In my opinion the etched reticle is worth it vs the wire reticle. The illumination is not a big deal for me.

1-4x24

Gtg. Also on the vortex website as a primary online vendor

Anyone have a bulk go to for 6.5cm ammo?

I've just been buying from the local stores, horn match, horn American, etc

Anyone tried the Prime ammo?

My wife enjoys shooting the rpr as much as I do, so we're burning through ammo.

Reloading it is on my to do list, but not yet.

I buy my bulk ammo from SGAmmo. Sam is the best.

I have been wanting to try the Prime, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

EBR-1 does it all if your dialing for elevation / windage.

If you shoot based on hold overs (like in a match) then the Christmas tree is nice. Have both with the Christmas tree on my razor but still prefer to spin the dial.

I have shot it and it is good to go.

At 100yds it is under 1moa. My best grouping @ 200yds was an inch. My best grouping @ 300yds was 3 inches. I am new to precision shooting and still finding my way so I am sure it can do better than that.

Company-wise they are great to deal with. I emailed them a question on a Sunday morning during a long holiday weekend. I did not expect to hear back to them until Tuesday but the owner called me 5 minutes later with the answer.

Interestingly enough my 26" PVA barrel is supposed to shoot Prime the best but it turned out to be the worst. It's not bad but everything else I've shot has grouped better. Go figure. I usually just go to ammoseek.com. Have to watch out for shipping costs with some of the vendors there though.

Fine; you guys twisted my arm.  I'll go big.

BTW - your rifle's color scheme is pretty snazzy.  It reminds me a lot of this paintball team that ran a shop by me, back in the '90s.  All of their gear was anodized purple, and chrome.  Gets me all nostalgic, and such.

What hard case works for a folded stock RPR?
Link Posted: 7/5/2017 1:09:42 PM EDT
[#40]
I was playing around with the stock adjustments on mine, and realized that the bottom rail doesn't quite line up with the channel in the clamping part.  As such, I have to angle it slightly causing undue drag, as the surfaces aren't completely parallel.  I haven't seen this addressed in other posts.  Is this typical?  It would certainly explain why so many have difficulty adjusting it.  I don't plan on adjusting it once set, so I'm not too concerned - just curious.

Hmmm, two good mounts and two good optics.  IMO, almost gotta be an out-of-spec rail or receiver.
It might not hurt to have a gunsmith take a look, or send it back to Ruger to check over.
