Sometime within the week, I'll have a coaching session with a 4H student to check zeros and memorize procedures. I'll print off some and give it a go with probably a Mossberg 144 and an Anschutz 1903

Use an aperture sight set, and color the dots in with a magic marker. They'll 'magically' appear.

We need some more shooters.

I managed to score a brick of CCI SV so when I'm not working weekends any longer I can get back to the range.

To whomever sponsors this game, is this a legitimate modification of the target?

I would say it is but the sponsor has the final word.

Im having a lot of fun with this game.  Thanks OP for putting it up.

Using a Savage MK II FV-SR with Boyd's stock, Mueller APT Tactical, Atlas bipod (but used bag to shoot off of last go around), stock ACCU trigger and CCI SV ammo.

First attempt paper was 6 tacks.  I went home that night and adjusted the trigger down to about 2.5 lbs on gauge and did some trigger control practice.  Next outing, second paper was 14 and third (one posted) was 19.   I just put the Bradley Cheek Rest on last night so I don't have to pick up my head slightly.  I plan on going out tomorrow and seeing if I can get above 20.

Just stumbled onto this post.  Love shooting my 22LR rifles.  Seems like a fun game to try.  Just for kicks, will have to try with my Mossberg 144 LSB.  Hell maybe even try with my J. Stevens. Will post pics when I get out to my local range.

Went out to the range this am. Didn't do to bad. The weather was nice. Here is the best that I could do today.

This is either a 16 or a 17. Number 8 is kinda questionable. With a round stuck in the hole it does appear to have broken the inner circle. I'll leave it up to y'all if I get that one or not.

I was working on a better score then some asshole set up next to me with a new AR he just picked up. His muzzle brake was kicking my ass. I figured that I'd move over to the 100 yard line and try my hand at the 1 MOA all day challenge. Before I could finish my last 50 yard target I got a round stuck in the chamber.

I have been meaning to give this a go for a while now... Just printed off a dozen targets and will post up results tomorrow.  Looks like a blast. I will attempt it at 25 an 50 yards.  Wish me luck!

I tried this for the first time today with my MKII. It was a lot of fun, but I didn't do well at all (hopefully just due to the bulk ammo).
What ammo do you all use? I think I'll try some CCI next time instead of bulk bricks.

Agree. Isn't the SK standard the same load as the wolf? Hope so because I cant find Wolf anymore.

Yes

SK Standard Plus = Wolf Match Target
SK Match Rifle = Wolf Match Extra

CCI SV and Norma Tac-22 work well for me at 50 yards. At 100 yards my rifle likes SK. I have not tried any hi end RWS, Eley, or Lapua stuff.

Here's my entry.  Tuesday May 10th at the River Bend Gun Club in Ga.  Savage Mark I bought for my son through the CMP 6 or so years ago.  Every thing is stock but the stock and the scope.  Got 22 of the little buggers at 25 yards.  We won't discuss 50 and 100 yards.  I think I could get the 50 yard with my 10x scope if it wasn't windy, but I can't see the circles very well at all at 100.  Is it legal to print your own version with heavier black lines as long as the white center is still the same size?

My rifle is the one on the right with the Mt. Dew bottle.  Harris bipod and squeeze bag only.  And yes, we were practicing with the 50 yard target at 25 yards, but I did so well on it I figured why not give the correct target a whirl.  The 25 yard target is the one above the red dots and the one posted as scored.

You'll notice my buddy's target on the left is already missing.  He didn't want it shown.

SK standard plus and Wolf match target are good to go.  I didn't have as much luck with Eley target.  Might have been my rifle just doesn't like it as much.

50yds, RAR 22lr with a Leopold VX1 2-7and a form 1 can

Shot with exactly this set up, but this picture was taken another day (1MOA challenge)

I had some fun with it, but I have a ways to go.  I know the rifle is capable and it has proven accurate in the 1 MOA challenge, but I need to work on slowing down and getting a consistent sight picture on each target. There was a slight wind, but I shot when it would die down and i don't think that it was an issue. I believe the idiot pulling the trigger to be the defective part of the equation today.  I am however always excited for a good 22 game and I am going to print out a bunch of these for each range trip.  I might even try a 25yd one next time out but I normally keep the rifle sighted in at 50.

How is the CCI SV working for you lately? I've had to give up on it. To many FTE's for my liking. It seems to have a lot more wax on it  now  to me. In the past I've really like it. The price is good and it shoots well at 50 yards.

I can't recall ever having an issue with CCI SV, but i use it exclusively on my RAR.  The rest of my 22s usually just get fed whatever bulk pack i have on hand.

I really don't think I can give you a good data point since the RAR (and i imagine most bolt actions) are going to be reliable with anything you feed them.

This is much harder than it looks. My dad and I have upgraded 10/22's for squirrel hunting and we use the targets to test ourselves, the guns and different ammo. It's a humbling experience especially if we figure the money we have in our rifles. Most of our rifles are set up really light for woods walking so that doesn't help.

I may try my heavier gun this week if the wind will cooperate. My best targets is 22 on the 25 yard and 17 on the 50. I'm putting more magnification on my heavier gun so will have to give all the distances another go. Never tried the 100 before either. Need to get out this week if time permits.

I suck! I tried with my CZ-452 that was threaded to use as a suppressor host.Scope is a 12x SWFA SS.   I've been plinking with it up until today.  I broke out the SK STD+ today and tried to do one target.  I shot prone using a bipod and rear sandbag.  "Range" is in my front yard and I shot at 25yds.  Only got 14 but I had fun.

Chris, I'd say that makes you a winner.

I've wanted to do this for years but haven't been able to get to the range to do it.  Maybe I will get to shoot it this Christmas.  I don't have a rest of any sort, not even a bipod.  If I shot it and did poorly (or well), what would that mean?  Does it matter if I have better (or worse) conditions than when you shot it?  How would I be ranked alongside the other targets/shooters?

So, you see, it makes no difference at all, except to me to have fun doing it.

When I threw this game up I had thought about doing rankings for the shooters. The more I thought about it, the more I figured just shoot the targets and have fun. I have yet to shoot 100% on any one of them but every time that I go to the range I try to. It's fun and relaxing.

I printed targets about 3 years ago but STILL have not used them.  Last time I went to the range the wind was gusting from 10 to about 40 mph, fish tailing,... forget it.

Questions.

If the circles are 1.000" at 100 yards (~1 MOA) why are they 0.375" at 25 yards (~1.5 MOA) instead of 0.250" (1 MOA)?

How do you normalize for prevailing winds between shooters?

How do you normalize for optics versus irons?

I did.  It was.

It was difficult.  My pulse beat was probably 2 MOA all by itself, so the skill was one of timing the trigger release.

Quarterbore, as I understand it, there are no rules other than the target sizes and distances.

I shot mine from a bench but without any sort of rest.  It was difficult and came down to timing the release of the trigger.

A proper F-class bipod or benchrest would allow me to clean it at 25 yards.  at longer distances, it comes down to being able to dope the wind.

Basically, something like a Lead Sled is against the rules. You need to shoot the rifle not a machine. Other than that,  shoot guns, have fun.

I spent some time adapting my Sinclair bipod to my rimfire rifle.  With a proper rifle rest and a little practice, I should do a little bit better than my first attempt (18/25).  Honestly, I am not expecting much improvement, as the limitation was me (2 MOA pulse beat).

We shall see.  We shall see.

Fun challenge, it's a beautiful day in South Carolina so I printed off a couple of these and headed outside to take my best shot (or 25!).

Rifle: Kidd Supermatch 10/22 with 16.5" ultralight barrel with a Dead Air Mask suppressor on a magpul hunter stock.
Glass: Mueller AO Eraticator 8-25x50
Support: Bipod on front, nothing but my hand under the stock on the back.
Ammo: Wolf Match Target

First try, I did pretty well with the first 10rd mag, dropping one, then really let myself go with the second mag, dropping 3/10. Got my act together for the last five but still dropped one for 20/25.

Second try I limited myself to 5 in each mag, taking a break and not rushing too much. Still ended up dropping one on 4 of my 5 shot strings but that's good enough for 21.

I'll definitely be shooting this again -- and I'd like to give it a try slung up instead of on the bipod. I could certainly do better if I used a rear bag instead of my hand -- pulse all over the place!
