Hmm.

The left side has more vertical stringing, and the right side has more horizontal stringing. Did you check your Natural Point of Aim?

It seems like you fired the left side first and was rusty on the trigger, then went to the right without adjusting your body and rifle orientation. This can cause muscular tension and pull shots during recoil. Or you fired the right with an improper NPA, and got fatigued on the left.

In my experience, vertical stringing is usually caused by inconsistent ammo/wrong node, inconsistent trigger squeeze, or pulse. Horizontal is more common with tall, round stocked rifles like the AR, because it's easier to cant due to leverage, muscular tension as mentioned, and wind.  ETA: and inconsistent trigger finger placement.

I don't think CBC's been praised for it's precision, but I figure it to be <1.25 MOA capable.

Sounds accurate. This was the first time in a while I have been out to shoot groups. For the past few months I've been doing mobile/ run&gun stuff.

Felt nice to sit on the bench for the day.

Probably will go back out again in a few weeks

Details on Photo.  Shot off bipod, no rear bag.

Scoped bolt rifle at 100 yards.  LampShadeActual.  Remington M700PSS .223 Remington 1:9 twist Harris bipod Leupold 3.5x10x50mmTarget scope Leupold dual dovetail rings.  Federal Gold Medal Match 69 grain.  Groups:  1.25" 0.94" 1.0" 0.44" 0.88" = 4.51" /5 = 0.90" average = 0.860 MOA. (Noteworthy is that these groups were fired doing a box test one shot per corner at a time.  The upper left target MOA includes the 25th shot when I did the high one and includes all five shots on the center diamond adjusting upwards slightly to center the last shot in the group.  Thats why the diamond has one up from the four.

Sadly no update from me this week. Brought the 308 Tobr to the range but didn't have a chance to reload much the week prior. Pulled a bunch of factory ammo out instead. Had HORRIBLE luck with crap SSA 175gr and Nosler. Primers blown out, split in half, etc... No problems with any other brand (FGMM, Hornady, etc...), but totally ruined my day. Switched over to the SBR's and just blasted to have fun.

I wasn't planning on submitting this as I'm going to beat it soon I hope, but... Why not.

This was shot testing out 3 different types of ammo from an 18" Larue 7.62 PredaTobr

Top Left: American Eagle M1A 168gr OTM
Top Right: Black Hills 168gr HPBT
Center: American Eagle M1A 168gr OTM
Bottom Left: FGMM 168gr
Bottom Right: FGMM 168gr

1. Pic of target

2. Pic of groups

3. I need to get a new caliper battery but for now here's a crappy tape measure on a group

4. 2 pictures of the rifle as shot. First pic shows how little space I had to go prone at this bench, 2nd pic is from the side of the rifle

SPR 100yd; Mike_P: Larue 18" 7.62 PredaTobr with SilencerCo Saker 7.62 - Vortex Razor HD 5-20x in an LT135, FGMM 168gr, Fed AE M1A, BH 168gr Match, Groups 0.966 / 0.843 / 0.879 / 0.637 / 0.458 = avg .756 MOA

That shooting position looks miserable. Did you use your chin to absorb the recoil?

Great shooting though.

Definitely wasn't fun. But with that said I've been in worse positions before. Getting up was a pain with herniated discs.

I finally got around to attempting this challenge.
Weather was perfect, 69 degrees and sunny with 5-7mph winds.  I forgot my "official" targets and my rear squeeze bag, so I had to make due.
Range at 100 yards: (Lake Michigan is just over the large berm)

The results:

The non OnTarget target with smallest group:

The rifle:

Bolt Division with magnified optics, Tunabomber: Remington 700 5R Milspec .308 - Manners T4A with mini-chassis, AAC Cyclone, 18" barrel - Nightforce 12-42x56 benchrest scope - Handloads - Groups 0.415"/0.744"/0.469"/0.228"/0.734" = Average 0.518" = .495 MOA.
Handloads were 178 AMAX over 43.6 gr of Varget in new Lapua cases.  COAL of 2.935, .010 off the lands...absurd Remington chambers.
The OnTarget pic is sideways, POI was around a half inch low.
Let me know if I missed anything...

Curious when the next update is going through? For whatever reason I wasn't put in on the last update even though im pretty sure I included everything required. Maybe the 22lr's weren't updated.

4/12 submission here

Didn't get in much shooting time today. They were doing controlled burns on post so the Fire Dpt. showed up at random and they shut the range down without notice.

Was a bit rushed, but shot an average of .709 moa from the 18" Tobr today. Not going to bother submitting it as it's not a big enough difference from last weeks.

It sure does. Quite impressive. A few of the guys at the range want me to disassemble it completely and then reassemble and shoot it.

Might just have to record myself doing that and give it a go. See where we end up. I know it's been done, but if I can do it quickly AND manage to shoot the 25 rounds in the 10 minute cycle, I think it might be relatively impressive. I've got to talk with the guys who run the range and see if they can give me a break on the no touching your weapon when the range is cold. See if they'll let me touch it when it's in pieces.

I've got to get to shooting that 12" more as well. I've just been slacking on the 223 reloading since I've been so focused on the Tobr and trying to get my 300 Blackout reloading back up and running.

I'm also looking through the top ten and see that 7 of the top ten are running billet receivers. The other 3 might be, but I can't find the posts to see a picture of the rifle. Similar to what Mark stated, does that mean billet receivers tend to be more accurate, or that people are more likely to use billet receivers for precision builds?

Eta. Stealth uppers are billet right?

My hand load in the stealth up was almost as good as the fgmm. They were very similar. I will bring that rifle to the range too and if I have time make up some new loads with very minor powder adjustments. I also wanna try a couple different powders... Though I've been loving the 8208. It couples perfectly with both the 77gr smk and Nosler CC.
