Why not? If you have pictures of your ghille suits, hides, anything concerning field craft, post them here! I have a few and will be posting. Even if it's just out in the field military sniper, LEO marksman or anything related. Let's see yours!

This pic sucks, because I cropped the whole rest of it out.

I posted these before, but here are a few of my home made Wyoming desert ghillie jacket and head dress.

Here is a shot of my testing in in "ideal" local habitat:
I've modified it a bit since these pics to be a bit lighter, and added more "grass" type camo

These are testing it up at my cabin in less than "desert" habitat.   It worked better than I expected.    I didn't add much local vegetation, just a bit here and there.   These were taken without me trying to hide, just next to local habitat.
Out in the open next to the creek below my cabin.  Yes, I forgot my gloves, and I've added some wrap for my rifle in my kit since these pictures were taken.

Taken by a walker after completing the stalk. Had the opportunity to train with the sniper section fora few weeks, kinda cool.

I need to get pic of mine in the bush. It works great for AL woods.

I literally scrambled to get one together at bass pro shops the weekend before class.

Thanks, my hood is like my AR. I always feel like I need to tweak it to make it "a little better". Its never ending.

What are the specs on your optic? Is that a dedicated NV scope? How do you like that compared to a clip on?

the one this I see alot on rifles is the objective lense isnt obscured by camo mesh, you did it right IMO. big black round reflective scope lenses will give you away to game. I'd imagine trained observers would have little trouble spotting them.

Yea. One of the things they really drilled in us was that "shapes" aren't naturally occurring, and humans are automatically drawn to them.

Straight lines , squares, circles, ovals, etc are all easily picked out.

I figured it out hunting ground hogs with a rimfire. I tied some non reflective cotton mesh around the bell of the scope then run some fishing line down the barrel channel and tied the mesh to that so it tented down from the scope to the barrel. My success went way up. the best way to test your camo is to go out into the woods and see how close game will get to you. Well outside stalking trained observers. I have had turkeys so close I could have reached out and grabbed one. Ground squirrels eating nuts on my leg or boot etc. If you can fool a turkey you can fool a man.

I once shot 6 starlings from an average distance of 10 feet with a 22LR in my oversaturated ghillie in about 30 minutes.

I also have a Tactical Concealment Cobra hood I got for $40 new. It just doesn't have the hood.

First off this is bad ass! Never went to sniper school so I have a question about the objective scetch. I am figuring its similar to the sector scetch for an emplaced weapon ( ranges, elevations, landmarks, etc) but what other data would you throw into them?

On Day 2 of our DM/SS Course, it's basically a series of culmination exercises allowing multiple opportunities for approaching loopholes in natural terrain, and placing shots on steel through said loopholes.

It really makes a lot of sense when thinking about hunting and how you will approach your prey.  I like these exercises because it takes fieldcraft and marksmanship, and requires that you apply both, ensuring that you have height above bore line-of-sight, as well as trajectory clearance to steel targets that don't lie.  You'd be surprised as to what you can find in terms of loopholes if you get creative and push outside your comfort zones.

Hmmmm.  Interesting place/use of a veil.  Not my photo, but it's a field craft picture

This is from the Twin Peaks biker shootout thread.  I hope it was hot, and this guy was trying to keep the sun off his head.

I have used a vail to reduce the glare off of the ocular lens when I have minimal cover overhead, this helps me reduce eye fatigue on bight sunny days.

I suppose it might help with walking around on the roof to view his radio screen too, but it just stood out to me, given the situation.

It looks like he's ready to go to a 3-gun match  Lets hope he shoots horrible, flags the squad and doesn't know how to do a mag changes, otherwise he won't fit in.

I posted a thread in GD, but i thought these might also be appreciated here.  I had a chance to test out my Ghillie jacket and hood this week up at our cabin in the rocks and open hillside.  This is my 16yr old son, modeling it for me....  We were messing around shooting rock chucks.

The ghillie seemed to blend in pretty well with the rocks.  We didn't take the time to add any native vegetation or anything that serious, just seeing how it looks in the wild.    My pack and other gear give some idea of scale and distance.

Guns, nice photos. That area's gorgeous. The ghillie looks like a great base to work with for that area.
