The can try, but as this video shows they just can't hide from thermal.
This video also shows just how advantageous a dark night can be when you have thermal imaging on your side. I^2 would have never even detected this hog. He was laying down 10 yards inside the tree line on a dark night.


Afterwards we went inside the woods and looked out to where we were standing when we shot him and it was pitch black. The hog knew we were there, but would of had a hard time seeing us. Thermal really is king when it comes to hog hunting!




 

Thanks. I've only seen it twice where they lay down and think you can't see them. Both nights were moonless and we walked within 10 yards. Where in Texas are you killing those piles of hogs I see in your pictures? This one was about an hour south of Tyler.

 

2 different animals with 2 feature sets. You will get the same exact performance out of the 19mm MK II and IR Patrol m300w. I prefer a weapon sight on a weapon and a patrol on my helmet. The MK II 35 has more magnification and range than the 19mm IR Patrol(obviously), and that makes it better suited for a rifle in my opinion. The MK II also has better battery life, a better mounting mechanism, and better reticle selections.  I don't hunt with 1x optics much, and I do not prefer a 1x weapon sight unless max visible range is under 50 yards. Unless the IR Patrol has a 35mm option, the MK II(and now MK III)is top dog of IRD thermal weapon sights. We have an m250 IR Patrol and MK II 35mm in our rental pool if you are interested in hands on time. Hope that helps.
