1 brachial plexus shot with Winchester .223 64 gr power core hp (all copper similar to Barnes). Had to track him the 5 feet he slid down hill.

Get any pics of internal damage? Complete pass through or was the bullet recovered?

Not a pass through. Hit shoulder blade on entry and lots internal damage. I think bullet was right under the skin on far side. That deer never knew what happened.

Curious on this as well. I took a little crap when I carried my 5.56 AR for part of deer season, I wasn't concerned but the area I was hunting provided no opportunity for long shots. (over 100 yrds)

Well GrimeReaper added more meat to the freezer today. This was a more difficult shot. Took two shots. I was standing up and only had a small sapling to support my shot at about 80 yards. First shot was low and just behind the heart.  I thought I missed him. He ran about 25 yards.  Next shot he was trying to hide a little in a ditch and I finished him with a neck shot to the spinal cord. Was intending to do the high shoulder shot but I was unstable and shook up...!!!

Sounds like the bullet performed very well. When they slide down hill for me (which is not uncommon) it's more like 75yds down to the bottom - 5ft is sweet!

Nice deer!

And rocking some old school camo pants.

Thumbs up! Won't hear any grief outta me for your caliber choice. If a wood arrow from a 45# longbow can do the job, and a .357 mag from a pistol can do the job, I'm pretty certain a .223 can do the job.

I'm not a crybaby over etiquette. Kill the deer and fill the freezer

Nice kills. I use my AR almost exclusively. I'm shooting a mix of 69gr SMK's, 77gr SMK's, and the Speer 70gr semi-spritzer. No issues at all on deer and hogs.

Now I'm totin' my brand new 9.5" 300 BO pistol I built. I hope I get one more shot before our season ends end of January!

Ate some fried deer tenderloin and jerky today. Yum!
