Remington 870 smoothbore topped with a low power 1.5 - 5X with Winchester 2 3/4 rifles slugs.
Plain, simple and very effective.

Before I moved out of Ohio I used a Winchester 9410 and Brenneke 410 slugs.

H&R 20 ga single shot, the most accurate slug gun I have ever shot tried others Mossberg 695, marlin 512, Remington 870 barrel hastings and remington 870 barrel all where in 12 ga.  I will not even consider a 12ga slug gun everybody reports better luck with the 20's.  I have been thinking of getting a savage 220.  The ones I no longer have that I wish I would have kept would be the slugmaster 512 marlin it was very accurate but the stock was like a 4x4 post.

Remington 870 with a rifled slug barrel and iron sights.  I can only shoot 100 yards accurately with slugs anyway, so irons is fine for me.

Kills them real ded.

Benelli Super Nova w/ rifled-cantilever barrel and Bushnell 1-4x Circle-plex reticle.  Hornady 300gr SST sabots = cloverleaf @ 100 yards.

Sold it when I moved out of Iowa, ended up living in a short-range-only zone.  Setting up a Mossberg 835 to do the same now.

I don't use one, but a buddy of mine has a Savage 220.

It's very accurate.

Mossberg 500, cantilevered rifles barrel mounting Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8x32.  Shoots Hornady 300 gr FTX slugs very accurately out to 100 yards.

Back when I hunted the MN buck only season I had an 870 SPS cantilever 24" barrel. That thing was freaky accurate, rifle accurate, with 6 different slugs. I traded it off for a muzzle loader to extend my season in WI. 10 years later I regret it. Not even sure if the green R makes them anymore.

11-87 Rifled Barrel with Remington Accutip slugs 3"

870 with 20" smoothbore and factory rifle sights. 3" rifled slugs. Knocks the piss out of them inside 75 yards. It has killed 3 already this season. (Only 1 by me)  No fun shooting it from the bench though.
I have a single point sling and a pistol grip stock on it as well.

H&R Ultra Slug Hunter in 20ga.  My kid uses this one now.

Savage 220, haven't killed a deer with it yet though.

I used to use an 870 w/ a slug barrel in 20ga, and my dad used an Ithaca Deerslayer (pump w/ a 2-7 scope).

Savage 220, with a leupold 2-7. I.  I bough one for my soN this year, and it is amazing. To be totally honest, it blows the socks off of my benelli 's with rifled barrels. The savage is lighter, kicks less, had a better trigger, and way more accurate. One amazing shotgun, and this is coming from a guy, who has been slug hunting, since 1983.

Circa 1970 12 gauge Remington 1100 with a Rem rifled slug barrel. Drilled and tapped for a EGW picatinny rail. Scope is a Kahles KX3-9x42. The Kahles and the rifled barrel were put on about 5yrs ago. Before that was a Leupold 2.5-8x36 Vari-X III,mounted in Redfield rings and a Redfield mount system that was drilled and tapped at 45 degrees, and a smooth bore slug barrel. That set up was put on back in 1972 when I got out of the Army. Slugs finally did the scope in, and Leupold gave me a new VX3 2.5-8x36 under warranty.

This is a dedicated deer killing gun, and has killed more deer than I can remember. Moved into my current location in 1991 and I've taken around 30 deer with it since I moved in. Plus all the others I taken with it behind my parents house before it was sold in 1996. I''ll guess somewhere north of 50 deer since 1972.

Took a decent 8pt Thursday morning with it. I use Remington Buck Hammers. And, believe me, they hid hard from both ends. 40yrd shot in the base of the neck. DRT. But the he was facing South after the shot. Before I shot he was going East.

Mossberg 835 cantilevered rifled barrel with low power scope and simple reticle.  Using 2 3/4" Hornady Fusion 7/8oz sabots.  I'm in a pie plate over 100 yards.

Took my first ever deer with it last week!

Browning A5 with a 24" barrel and old school polychoke.  I've taken many deer with it since I bought it in 1984.

Been using a Rem 1187SP for years and have always taken deer with it.  LOngest shot taken was 235 yards with 7x scope and Rem Core-lok ammo.  Now that I've given up on taken longer shots, I switched out the scope for a Primary arms MD and Rem Accu tips.  I love my current set up compared to the old one.

Older 870 Express that I bought used that came with a 18" IC barrel. I put on a 23" rifled cantilever barrel, Remington 870 Police Stock, Police Magazine Spring, Buffer, swivel, Nikon slughunter scope, Warne Rings and Claw sling.  It knocks them down quick with Hornady SST's.

You do mean straight walled cartridges right? Rifles chambered in a round with a shoulder are still a no-no here in the buckeye state. I only wish the neighbors cared about that little detail......

Using an 12 ga 870 w/ black synthetic plastic, 20" rifled and rifle sighted barrel, but I put a saddle mount and Slugmaster 3-9 bdc scope on it. Going to use federal sabot slugs.

From Page 20 of the 2015 Michigan Hunting and trapping digest.

" A .35 or larger rifle loaded with stright-walled cartridges with a minimum case length of 1.16 inches and a manimum case length of 1.80 inches"

I use a Marlin 1894S lever in 44-40 cal. But this year I ended up using the shotgun again, as I changed scopes on the Marlin, and didn't get it sighted in before the start of gun season.

I was talking to AJE since he has his home state listed as Ohio so I'm not sure how the Michigan Hunting and Trapping Digest applies here!

Same I have no issue shooting Accutips out to 200 reliably.  My buddy just got a 220 and it is a nice gun too. Haven't had a lot of trigger time behind it.

My go-to has been a 20" fully rifled bbl. 870 pinned and receiver drilled at the factory.  2-3/4 12 ga. Remington Copper Solids shoot best out of it.
