I have once, center punched a spike right under my tree stand in central TN. DRT. If kept within it's limitations, it's good to go. I'd recommend some kind of red dot on it at least though, in low light those stock sights suck.....bad.

My son uses his with Wolf 154 gr soft points and a red dot sight.  Works just fine when he dies his part.

There is a guy in the GA HTF that uses an AK74. I know he has killed them with 7n6, but think he's used the Hornady 5,45 rounds also.

I've used 122 grain HP and 154 SP in my 7,62 AK. 1 shot kills.

My boy is going to use my Ak this year. It is equipped with a red dot and will be great for the short range shots we get in the woods in this part of the state.

With a 4x scope and wolf hp ammo mine was shooting about 4" and 100 yards so that imo isn't good enough, I bought some hornady sst 7.62 to try but never shot it yet to see if it's accurate or not.

Now I'm building a 6.8 ar for hunting so I'll probably never try the ak out in that role.

I use mine for pigs all the time. Passed on a nice buck one morning.
He was just beyond my comfort zone.

I used a reflex on the forend, don't like taking critical shots beyond 60 yards.

I don't have any pics, but I took 2 with a Wasr-10/63 and some wolf soft nose bullets.

Did a pretty good job, but both kills were under 50 yards

I killed a couple back a few years ago before my 6.8 was the go to. Made a great thick brush gun. I normally used Remington soft points, I guess core lokts? Did just fine.

Several members in my hunting party use SKS's and they are quite effective
