I was freezing in a ladder stand. It was 18 degrees F and windy. He was slowly working his way through some thick small cedars, from left to right about sixty yards in front of me. I saw movement, recognized it as a deer, then a large deer, then a buck, then a big buck. Never got a really good look at him the whole time, though. I kept losing him every time he stopped, and couldn't pick him up even with the scope. He was headed toward an opening, but I've learned the hard way not to wait for a better shot, to take the first one you can make. So as his neck passed through a little opening, I pulled the trigger. He dropped like he got hit by lightning. I waited a few minutes, then walked over. That's when I realized how big he was, and recognized him. I have three game camera pics of him, from fall 2012 and January 2013 and November 4th of this year.
