I've got a Savage Model 10P 308 coming for my new mid-range deer rifle.
I consider mid-range 200-600 yards and was wondering for those who do shoot deer that far what magnification range of scope do you use?
I had a 2.5-10x on my last 308 but was thinking 3-12x this go around.

What say you, pics please.

I have no problems with 600m shots with a 4-12x50. On 10x a 150lb. deer looks like it's at 200m or so. Way close enough for a precision shot.

I was down on the tracks the other day, and watched 4 different bucks walk across right at 600m.. 603m to be exact, and was pretty shocked as to how easy it would have been to drop one on 9x..

12X would be plenty.

Looking at the Nikon Monarch 3, 3-12x  BDC, any thoughts on that also considering a few options from Burris.

I've ordered the Burris Veracity 2-10x-44 I think it'll work well.

If you can hit a deer at 100 yards with iron sights the view should be similar with a 6x scope at 600 yards.

A variable scope that tips out at 10-12x should be fine.

That will work. I have a 3-12-44 signature select. It spends most of it's time set at 4x. Last year I did dial it up to 10x for a 265yd shot on an antelope. I usually only go up to 12x when shooting diggers.
