My first deer-nubbin buck 2009, my second-a spike mule in Wyoming 2010, and third, a doe in Wyoming. My fourth and fifth, two does in 2011.
Rifle is a DPMS, first deer was taken with an upper I borrowed from a friend with an EOTech and a standard AP4 stock. Wyoming deer were with a Lite Hunter upper and a Bushnell scope (which I hate.) I also changed the stock to the full rifle stock, the adjustable one was way to noisy to hunt with. The last two deer I didn't get any field pics, but I changed the scope to a Leupold VX3 3.5-10, which I love. I hunted with a Winchester Model 70 Ultimate Shadow in 308 last year and moved the Leupold scope to it, no deer though. If the DPMS is going to get any more time in the field, I'm going to have to put another good optic on it, a lighter stock, and a much lighter barrel. The thing is just too heavy for me. http://imageshack.us/a/img401/1673/7kbp.jpg http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/1250/ynxa.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img809/1429/unn5.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img856/6739/zvh6.jpg |

All these pictures are getting me all fired up. This time next week I'll be out there too. This year I'll be using my (Ross Seyfried inspired) Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt.

Thanks guys. I'll pass the attaboys on to my son.
Congrats to you as well. Probably going to get a day or two in, hunting by myself, and then take some of the other boys out, to give them a chance too. |

Congrats and holy shit - how did you even get that thing hoisted up? you may have wanted to kill a different deer for your first. you'll be ruined for a long long time trying to find something better to put on your wall. Congrats on the kill and welcome to the brotherhood. I've always thought it truly changes a man to stalk, kill, clean, and then eat his own food. You are the descendant of a thousand generations of hunters and killers. Be sure to pass along the skill. Congrats! |
