I still don't see it. There is "ask for conf before sending AR TXs" but,  I believe that's to get sender to confirm before sending, helps keep a non monitored station from sending out illegally,

I don't see where we have an option to ACK receipt of anything incoming

When unchecked, if a signal request comes, a response is sent without a confirm popup.  A monitored station does not mean a popup is required, although it would allow someone to become non-compliant by leaving.

I don't see ACK's either.  Maybe the message box capability has some way of a confirmed delivery.

I misread your original question.

I don't use the confirm before auto reply. I want that process to run as smoothly as possible without me hanging it up because i got distracted.

Might not hurt to have a dedicated thread.  I think there used to be one, but it archived.

I was going to start one this morning, but got busy. I'll see about starting one today, unless someone else does it. I was going to set it up with the first few posts as informational, then get into discussion.

Are we going back to 8pm East and 7pm Central? Seems like it was mentioned last week as a possibility.

Most seemed to favor the time change, I would say yes.

8pm Eastern start, starting to hold down a frequency around 730.

Does anyone want to try relaying me into the net on JS8?
Link Posted: 3/19/2024 3:18:26 PM EDT
[#15]
I will try to get on the radio tonight.  I'm going to have to change the layout of things.  Tuner is going to have to go back for warranty exchange.  It is injecting 3 S units of noise on 40 and 20 and at least 6 s units of noise on 80 meters.  Strangely, it is silent on 10 meters.  It is also not latching.  So if I unplug the Bias T to eliminate the noise, it loses tune.  So, wire antenna it will have to be.  Unless I can get my Chameleon Emcomm 2 to tune the vertical.  Honestly, it might.  Take the unun out of the circuit and use the Emcomm 2 as the match.  If that will work, then the 7300 can tune it with the internal tuner.

However, it looks like rain and I really have no desire to get hit by lightning.  So we'll see what happens.  With my luck, the shortest path to ground won't be the 2 10' copper ground rods at the vertical.  It will be through the coax and the radio and the mic and me.

Hope to see you guys tonight.  If not, next week.

Can do. Ill take a multiband antenna to be flexible if you want to give me bands /times.

I just put a Chameleon Antenna Tactical Delta Loop (TDL) up about 10 ft on a BuddiPole mast.  Never tried that before, always used the TDL on the ground spike setup.  It's not optimum for 40 meters, but we'll see if anyone can hear me tonight better than my usual EFRW.

I want to make something similar using a couple 7m fiberglass poles some 24awg wire, and a 5:1 transformer.

I set it up last night with the hybrid micro (I have a hybrid mini on it now) just to see if it would work.  It is happiest on 20-6 meters, with SWR under 1.5:1.  I tried it on 12m FT8 where it had a near 1:1 SWR and in about 10 minutes worked (and confirmed) Taiwan, Japan, Asiatic Russia, and New Zealand.  I was impressed, and may have to play around with it some more.
