This is what is coming with the radio. a solar shield, headset and pressel box, handset with pressel, morse key, antenna goose neck and 2.5m whip antenna, dipole centre juction and long wire antenna (Dipole), 60 foot of co-ax , battery extension cable, respirator mic and antenna counterpoise. The Bergen and attached sack/pouches View Quote Pretty much all you need. Yeah you can get a 24V smart charger many places for like 25-30 bucks. I use batteryspace.com for mine. |

WHere are you going to get a battery? View Quote This will charge the 320 batteries just fine in my experience, hasn't killed any of the half dozen I have. It uses a 1.5A rate, which is fine for the larger batts and hasn't killed the smaller ones either. I can also recommend them for batteries. 24V charger for clansman batts I'm also gonna have to disagree with Pic about the usefullness of the sandwich charger. They suck to use, take forever to charge even a small battery. IF you need one for TEOTEWAKAI or SHTF or whatever, go right ahead and get one. But for normal everyday use just get charger above or something like it. |

Well the 320 and kit arrived.
Bought a 12/24v trickle charger on ebay since the place listed above won't ship to me. We'll see how it turns out. At minimum I have a new lawnmower battery charger. There's a guy 15 minutes from me with a bunch of mil radios. Went to pick a carry frame and came home with a new battery as well! Hope to get out to the woods/seaside in the next few weeks to put her on the air. This place is about an hour from me. Will hopefully be able to check it out one of these days. Not for the 320 but it is a British Radio Pack. Link
If you are working the dipole that comes with the coax, remember that it is VERY band specific.
Change bands and you either have to spool in or spool out more wire. Your SWRs are dictated by the length of the dipole leads and you do NOT use the tuner. If you are using the 2 wires hooked to the radio itself without coax you can use the tuner. The bridge you remove to use the coax dipole disconnects the tuner. |
View Quote I was going to post about this last night, but ran out of time. That is the pack I have my PRC-320 in. It is made for the Bowman radios, but fits the PRC-320 quite nicely. I did add two additional pieces of webbing, using existing tie-ins to connect to. Being a radio pack, the whole thing zips open, and it does have a large storage space, that can be made quite huge by zipping open expandable sides. Please excuse the poor quality pics. Here is a video (not mine) that shows the pack quite well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0ew8oCi0kk If anyone buys one from Keepshooting.com, be aware that you can find a 10% off coupon code on the internet. |
