Noticed yaesu was having some rebates till the end of the year. Starts at $50 I think and goes to $400.

I noticed shopping when the FTDX 1200 with rebates/promotions  was $1000.

Just an FYI.

Where did you see it for $1000?

Everywhere I look it is $1,369.95, then a $200 rebate which puts it at: $1,169.95.

$1100 was close to $1000. I guess I should have said $1000 range instead of the $1500 range it was not long ago.

Gigaparts had it for $1100 or whatever it was. Sorry wasn't trying to give an exact price, just a lot less than the $1500 it was just a few months ago.

They're also giving one away if you want to register.

Okay,

Even at $1170, with free shipping from HRO it is very attractive.

If I didn't have the FT-950 only a year old, I would be all over this.

If it was 1K shipped, I would have to pull the trigger.

Daym. FT1200 is a great radio. I tested my FTDX3000 against it and found that they work almost identical except maybe in contests when FT3000 shines with it's roofing filters and high close-in dynamic range. FT1200 is perfect for everyday use unless you are an avid contester. Can't go wrong with $1,100 price.

I am very pleased with my FTDX 1200; though, it took a bit of work getting used to operating the rig and in how it differed from the way Kenwood did things. In truth, if the Kenwood TS 590s I had did not have the TX spike, which damaged my amplifier, I would have never gone to the Yaesu. I am quite pleased with the build quality of the FTDX 1200 and am still learning about it though I have had it almost a year now.

The soon to be released FT-991 looks interesting but no idea on the pricing and no way would I buy a first production run rig.  In three to four years perhaps, assuming it is still in production, but I barely use my FT-897D now favoring my FT-757GX II due to its simplicity.

Glad to hear the positive reviews on the 1200. Seriously considering making it my next purchase. I guess I have till the end of the year to make up my mind.

I'm going to have to think long and hard about adding a radio now. $1100 seems like a great deal for that radio. Maybe I'll wait a few months and see what the future brings.
