So I am QRT until at least Sep 26 when my 500' spool of Barely Flex (RF Davis Bury Flex) shows up. I can't wait.

Any words of advice, helpful hints or anything I should know?  I have two runs to make so I am expecting to use about 350' off the bat.

Words of advice?  Kill the rabbits!  They only eat plants around here, what kind of rabbits are these?

Any chance it was squirrels?  They love to chew wire for some reason.

Could have been.  But I saw a rabbit near the damn coax.  I think I am going to kill them all and let Jesus sort it out...

Have had it in use for several years around rabbits and squirrels and they have never bothered it!

At my place in Oregon the tree rats (red squirrels) will chew up anything plastic.   It is necessary to have cats or a small varmint dog to keep them at bay.   My old grey tom would never eat them but he loved to kill them until he got too old, then I would come home every day to find something more chewed up.

I will add that I have a lot of rabbits and squirrels around here, and a lot of exposed coax.  I've never had any coax nibbled on as far as I know.  I also have moles and a lot of buried coax, and I have no idea what those evil suckers have possibly done!

I did have a Beverage antenna along the top of my 142' back privacy fence and the squirrels chewed the hell out of it.  They used the fence top as a safe highway across the yard, and the wire really cramped their style since it was right in their way.

I was a security system tech for a few years long ago and the only critter damage I had to repair was from squirrels in the attic once.

And my final tale comes from Ladislav, a guy I went to college with who came from Czechoslovakia.  He was once a technician who serviced the electronic controls at natural gas pumping stations across that country.  They farmed a lot of sunflower seeds there, and as the harvest progressed in the Fall, giant herds of mice were driven across the fields trying to escape the machinery.  These waves of mice would overtake the pumping stations and get into everything, and they would eat almost all of the insulation off of the wiring in them!

rabbits and squirrels both make a fine stew, and cleaning them is pretty much the same

line em all up, and gun em all down

Practice your trapping skills.  If the site of the crime is near a wall, lean a 2x12 up against the wall far enough away to create a little lean to or covered passageway if you will.  Place a snare at the end of it.  That way you hone your survival skills, exact revenge, eliminate future threats and get some tasty hasenpfeffer to boot.

Check your game laws first.  Some states may require you to have a trapping license before you can legally do that.

Have you considered cutting out the damaged  section and splicing the coax? It would not  cause any noticeable  performance issues  on HF bands. I've  done it numerous times.

That was nice of you to send your dog over to kill his rabbit.  So convenient that you both live in the same state.  I'm constantly amazed by the helpfulness of the members on this forum.

There is only one real method of rabbit removal.

The area that would need spliced is flooded in the winter.
