piccolo's post on working split made me think of 10 meter repeaters

they are FM on
29.620mhz   (29.520input)
29.640mhz  (29.540input)
29.660mhz  (29.560input)
29.680mhz  (29.580input)

( input is 100khz down. ) edit

( Some have a PL / CTCSS tone)

When I was a new ham, there was a 10m repeater in the Virgin Islands, that was open most days
It's a lot of fun

the next time 10 meters is hopping, roll your VFO up to 29.mhz FM and try some repeaters

( also 29.600 10meter FM simplex calling freg )

Here's a you-tube video I googled  . . . . of a ham in FL talking to a NY repeater....

when the rig keys up, you can see the SPLIT operation on the display 29.620/29.520

Vertical or horizontal polarization on 10m repeaters?

Thanks!

If it's local you probably need vertical.

Ionospheric propagated signals (E or F layer skip, etc) have randomized polarization so it doesn't really matter what you use.

The split is 1 KHZ, not 500hz.

Makes sense, thanks!

I have an 8 element yagi going up to 60ft after the moxon array gets done.

I am switching to a 3-element moxon plan.

This pic is from Field Day 2010. Look at the signal strength from the 29.660 machine into northern AZ.

When 10 is hopping, it's "in there like swimwear".
