I've only seen vines for sale for blackberries and raspberries
Much quicker getting started that way I'd think.  Save you a year or two to harvest.

Pardon my ignorance, is "GEM" an acronym? A specific type of blackberry? Google told me nothing.

Your post above is exactly what I was working toward, I just wasn't sure what GEM was. If it's a true-breeding hybrid the OP can possibly find seeds, but I don't know how berry genetics work. If it's not true-breeding, or it's a naturally occurring non-hybrid the OP won't find seeds, it will have to be reproduced by cuttings.
