I case there are any other hippy type folks who:

A: Refuse to use toxic chemicals in your tires.

B: Refuse to pay for beet juice injection.

Did the video in real time, don't know why. The setup is in the first few minutes if you don't want to stare at a tire and pump for 23 minutes

And does the video explain why exactly?

Why sugar? Yes, I mention why in the video.

Sugar water didn't freeze solid when I tested a batch this winter. Its cheap, shouldn't hurt the tire, and is far less harmful if/when I blow a tire on a chunk of garbage I constantly work out of the soil around here.

Its basically poor man's rimguard.

If you asking why fill the tires, its because I don't feel like strapping 70 pound tubes of sand to the fenders this year

Won't it eventually crystallize?

You can always cut the tire open and eat the home made rock candy.

Don't know. Not anytime soon anyway. The batch I played with wasn't affected by cold, stayed syrup UN it's baggie for a few weeks until I threw it out.

I can see mice doing that for you.

My solution is cast iron.

What's wrong with calcium chloride in a tubed tire?

When it don't stay in the tubed tire...

I have one tractor with a completely trashed rim because of the stuff and another tractor with a rim I need to break down, sandblast and repaint thanks to it.

To add to the fun tire guys don't want the stuff anymore...

Windshield washer fluid is pretty popular alternative for this

Thought about that, but windshield washer fluid is very toxic. I also thought about RV antifreeze. Figuring I used about 20 gallons of fluid at $8/gallon, it certainly isn't cheaper using RV antifreeze than paying for beet juice.

Won't that ferment and produce gases and build pressure?

Shouldn't.

At that concentration, sugar is a preservative. There is nothing in there to cause fermentation.

Where I did the tire filling, the flies are going CRAZY on the part of the driveway today.

Nothing on the 316, as I washed the tires/wheels with dawn really well

How much did the tire assembly weigh before versus after the solution was added to the tire?
Since you are adding air pressure to the tire why did you let the pressure neutralize before replacing the valve core?

Empty weight 40 pounds, full was 108 iirc. It's in the video, when it was fresh in my mind.

So the tire wasnt too full of fluid. Need some air in there. Maybe not necessary, but the tire is small compared to most filled tures.

Years ago I filled some garden tractors tires with an antifreeze solution. It doesn't take much for garden tractor tires. RV anti freeze would be even better.

RV Anti-freeze was $2.38/gal here and I bought several gallons for the upcoming Winter. I have cast iron wheel weights on my JD. Very "eco" friendly. Interested to see if the sugar water turns out to be a hood long term solution.
