Saw these on Woot and was wondering if anyone has them.

I don't hike now but would like to get into some light hiking. Just looking at the 50L pack.

Good quality? Good Price? Is there a better bang for buck out there?

Thanks for help,

it's a walmart type pack. Heavy and will not last long with use. If it's just for a bob that will set in your trunk or basement it's fine. If you are going to use it for backpacking, look at osprey , TNF or Gregory. Much better packs.

Thanks as I was given one for free from a friend.

A frind has one and I've seen them mentioned many times as a good entry-level/budget pack. Of course an Osprey, Gregory, REI etc would be much better all around but those are also typically 3-4x the price. My friends pack is 60L iirc, and seems to do well for weekenders.

If you're just day hiking, you don't need anything near 50L. A 20L is more than enough.

If you want a budget 50l, look for a Jansport katahdin instead. I have seen those as low as 50 bucks new.

A guy I go to school with carries one literally packed full of books. Held up for at least a year!

For lightweight, I agree. I really like the Jansports for budget lightweight packs. BUT I'd say the High Sierra are built for more comfort, better padding, better frame.
