I like the surprise aspect....and while I don't have a preference of receiving one or two items or several I personally like to give many smaller gifts with something cool and unique. (And I got a good one this year).

I'm in. Never done it before, but I always watch these threads, and say to myself that I should. Happy Thanksgiving guys!

I have done this for 4 years now . I had a suggestion my first year and took it to heart . I called and talked to my gift partner and it gave me a much better insight into the person and allowed me to make my gift more personal . I have enjoyed every year . I try to send something useful as well as maybe fun. 2 years in a row the wives have hijacked part of the gift I sent . ^ Agree 100%. Lots of good conversations with folks I have been matched up with in the exchange. I personally haven't been very involved in the Survival Forum, although I read it a lot. But, the Arfcommer's I've personally met and talked to (mostly due to Cola Warrior West) are some of the greatest people I've ever met. Now, that could mean that I just know shitty people to begin with, or they are extraordinary...you be the judge. |

With all the things that have gone on this year in my life, I would like to participate please.
Sorry, I'm in! Bigfeet |

I'm in. This is my first time being aware of this exchange, but I'd love to be a part of it. I just hope I can find something useful and unique to send whoever I end up getting. View Quote This is my concern I don't want to disappoint. What do you get someone that's been prepping for 30 years? Compared to me I'm still in the toddler stage of prepping. |

Well, chances are since I have been prepping in one form or another for the last 40 years, I already have a "whiz bang". But maybe the one you get me is nicer than the one I have. Or has more features. And remember that the whole point of prepping is to have backups for backups... As long as it is survival related, there can be no wrong gift. |

OK, the time is now here. We’ve had an amazing turnout for the 2014 Survival Forum Gift Exchange. Cag40Navy has worked his magic and, using an arcane process known only to himself and several hermits living in the Himalayas, drawn the names to match up you with your partner.
So what do you do next? *Find your name, and your partner’s name below. *Establish contact with your partner—both of you—do it now, don’t wait. Send them an IM or e-mail and introduce yourself. You should also have one from them. You know what I’m saying. Some of you may feel comfortable exchanging phone numbers, others may prefer to maintain communication through instant messaging or e-mail… I’ll leave the details up to you, but whatever the case, ESTABLISH CONTACT! (although not a requirement, a short post here stating something to the tune of “contact established” is a nice gesture) * * anyone who has made several attempts to contact their exchange partner and has NOT established a line of communication by Saturday, December 6, please IM either me or Cag40Navy ** Once you establish contact, here’s the bare minimum of what you and your partner need to go over— 1- Mailing addresses. 2- Primary means of getting in contact with the other person. ASK THEM if they actually check their e-mail or IM box regularly… Figure out a way to communicate, because this is where most of the issues in the past have fallen. 3- Decide, and agree upon a dollar amount for gifts. The suggested minimum is $50.00. Keep in mind that shipping is not included in this amount. 4- Decide, and agree upon when you get to open your gift. Some do it immediately, others wait for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. If you know that you’re going to be gone the entire month of December visiting family, or out of the country whacking bad guys for Uncle Sam, let your partner know and agree upon acceptable shipping arrangements. Remember, the last day to ship your gift to your partner is Friday, December 19. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEN TO SHIP YOUR GIFT. Many of you already have the item or items purchased. If so, box ‘em up and send them out. Now, some final words of advice, take it FWIW… Have fun with this…. Get to know your partner. Ask them what they’re in to. Their answer may guide you if you’re having problems deciding what to shop for. I’m more of a “generalist” myself, and happily accept any gift, whether or not I already have a dozen of them. (note to whoever gets me as a partner—I’m currently out of stock on a NIB stainless steel, Colt Delta Elite 10mm, so feel free to send one my way ) If you experience any issues or problems, contact either me or Cag40Navy BY ARFCOM IM instead of posting in the thread. We’ll try and get it sorted out and running smoothly to the best of our ability. Lastly, Merry Christmas to all participants! Match ups 2-10 (leafinthewind-Dayphotog) 6-36 (Curry-Pokechoke) 3-17 (G-REM-fatguy7814) 38-4 (wva1984-monkeypup) 32-8 (thisisdudewhoru-MrBear80229) 9-14 (HiramRanger-NorthernHillbilly) 1-5 (Cag40Navy-nickds) 13-33 (HUMONGO-97tjgunner) 28-35 (thatwasthenthisisnow-ttlph0t0graphy) 29-15 (POG926-gettingstarted) 26-24 (rufusleaking-suprmatch) 40-7 (Bigfeet-goodasgone81) 23-21 (MongoCaver-rscott2214) 34-27 (Wolverine_Tradition-Scorch05) 31-19 (robie1-tabraha) 39-11 (die-tryin-phasesouth) 20-41 (p2tharizo-MDRoberts) 18-22 (mustangracer-riggins) 12-16 (JFarley-WranglerJK) 25-30 (whiskerz-Mazawakhan) 37-3 (lethalppl)-G-REM**) (G-REM has agreed to double up due to the odd number total.. ) |

I wouldn't give it to much longer considering it has been 5 days so if no contact by 7th or 8th, all of you who have no contact hit me up and I will reassign you.

The Hillbilly's mailbox has been full... Please clean it out bro.
