10 HP Subaru OHV/OHC gas engine 6 gallon fuel tank runs up to 11 hours @ 50% load control panel includes (2) 120V outlets, (1) 120/240 twist lock outlet, and circuit breaker protection I have one of these going on three years, it's done me well but is loud. I've used it once for a 30 hour power outage and it worked fine. Plenty of power, will cycle my 2hp air compressor. They also have model PM0675700 for $419 that is a 5700watt and big wheels. |
|
That's a pretty good deal. I'd buy it if I didn't already have a couple of gensets. |
|
Thanks for the heads up....I passed it on to a few of my friends looking for generators.
|
|
There special right now is any order over $249.99 ships for free or something along thoose lines.
BTW I have the powermate version of that generator which they used to sell , subaru engine and all. Ive put ALOT of hours on it well over 2000. It always starts easily and runs well. I get 12-14 hrs out of 5 gallons of fuel depending on the load if I remember right. Usually we fill it in the morning and then again at night. |
|
Wow. I wish they had something a little smaller though. Like 2K watts for 40% off.
|
|
Walmart has a 2k generator for $199 http://www.walmart.com/ip/All-Power-America-2000W-Generator-Open-Frame/13115742 I had one before I bought the bigger generator. I gave it to my father so when the power goes out he can run his oxygen machine. They are a bit loud but it got us through Katrina down in FL with out problem.
ETA they keep them in the misc crap isle where they sell the firelogs atleast thats where I found it. |

The two listed above have subaru and yamaha engines. Which one of those are better, power aside.

I have two of that exact same genset. Both with the Subuaru motors.
Bought them both used, first one I got for $300 (practically new) second was $160. Both have served me well. They are both LOUD! My 800 watt harbor freight gennys sound like Honda's when compared to the 5k Coleman's. Its a good unit, and great price. |

We used to keep a piece of plywood to lean against the front (panel and plug side) and point the exhaust away. The single piece of plywood actually kicks ALOT of the sound away

I can't see it on the website but does anyone know how long this deal lasts? I already have one but may pick up another.

Anyone know how much power a furnace uses and if this will do the job?

I bought the 5700 watt one for $419. We lost our power a couple weeks ago due to the ice storm and got a hotel because we didn't have heat. A few years ago we lost power for 5 days because of hurrican Ike....but not any more. |

That looks like a smoking deal. Might have to buy one just as a backup. Decisions, decisions.
eta: Well, screw it. One is none and two is one, right? |

There are a few good deals. Can't decide between the 5000 or the 5700 one. Any advice as to which one? |

I bought the smaller one as my primary intended use for it is to power the frig and freezer in the barn. That;s been a gap in my back-up power plan for some time. If I were intending this purchase to be used as a primary genset, I'd have bought the bigger one. YMMV, as always. |

I picked up the 5700. I have been looking for a good deal on a new or used genny that would push my 240V well pump when needed. Thanks for the heads up on this, Jake.

in the 5000 watt range, are there other options that are going to be significantly quieter? and how loud is loud? the rating is 72db. the 5700 is 77db. - which i believe makes either considerably quieter than a lawn mower.
im trying to decide if this is a super smoking deal or if i'll wish i'd spent some extra money further down the road. eta. i checked out the honda generators. they do have some comparable models that are quieter, but are about 5x the price. even the model with a similar rating is 1200.00. where does this cost difference come from? |

It's loud, not as loud as my snowblower but loud enough that you wouldn't want to hang out around it and if you have close neighbors they will know it's running. I actually put a extra muffler on it and it helped, there is still alot of mechanical noise. Went from loud to tolerable with the muffler mod. Friend has a Kipor IG6000, I think he paid about $1300 for it, thing is really quite. Hard to tell if it's running within 10' if it's idled down and it's not a perfectly calm day. |

I must have hit on one of the last 5700's. Sweet deal. I should have bought two. I am lucky. Thanks OP.

On a side note, take your box and cut a small semi circle on both sides of the open side. Flip it over and you have a free generator cover. Mine still looks like it came out of the box. Then again, I was freaking bored out of my skull one day and used car wax on the painted part of my generator. It works great and looks pretty doing it. |

My 5700 was backordered. I called to get an estimate on ship time and they said they did not know. It could never come. I had a customer care person call me a few days later. I asked if I could get another genny 40% off with free shipping. They gave me a choice of one of three. (See new post to avoid hijack)

Was it just those two for 40% off, or are there others?
I only seen a few that were 10%. |

Still out of stock, and HD is not helping to much with the when or if they will get anymore in....
|
|
Got mine yesterday......assembled and run.
Between the Robin engine, the wheel setup and the pre-made power cord, all I can say is........Smoking deal! Hell, it even shipped with a quart of oil. Thanks, OP. |
|
Yeah. I got mine this past Monday. Haven't opened the box yet . Nice looking box, though...

Not sure if it's related, but I've been seeing these on Craigslist in the 500.00 range. New, unused, etc. I think there were more than a few flippers.
If you wanted one and didn't get, check your local CL. Make a lowball offer. They may have only paid have of what they are asking.

Mine was the larger of the two genny on sale, PM0675700. It is brushless.
|
|
Deal appears to be long gone now...
Full price but still has free shipping. |
