OK, bumping the thread with another post.
This guy seems to have a few things I haven't seen elsewhere:
http://survivaluk.net/downloadfiles/
https://www.wuala.com/kb5won/Shared/PrepFair2011?key=j5rbjSfVa2bx

I don't know how many are interested in making sandals and this looks pretty basic, but you decide if it interests you:
http://barefootted.com/sandals.pdf

a little piece on some archeological study on primitive American weaving:

http://knol.google.com/k/kenton-caves#

If you're into the whole primitive living aspect of survival, a few items:

http://flintknappinginfo.webstarts.com/

Few things on blacksmithing:

Everything I've listed so far has been free as far as I know , but I figure that sooner or later some of you might find an e-book on a topic that you're willing to pay to get. This site seems to have a variety of stuff on different topics:

Bump for some housekeeping.

I've deleted the dead megaupload links.

I've also noticed in doing some additional searches today that Google is not bringing up the same variety of sites using the keywords I was using to hunt stuff up when this thread was active last year.

More often than not I am getting multiple  links to about six different torrent sites.

I don't know why that is, but I'm passing along my observation.

If any of you find any of the links I've posted to be dead, please pass the info along to me.

whatever happened to the harddrive that was being shipped around? Is that still going on? I shipped it off to the next in line a while back, it was an awesome idea. The amount of material is mind boggling. I've printed out half of it, and have filled up two large book shelves already.

It sounds like something that is screaming to be made a torrent.  I have a few gigs of books/articles/pdfs etc I could add to the collection as well.  Would probably need some organization and de-duping, but if properly organized, could be thrown on to a private torrent rather easily.  That way the more people who download it, the better speeds everyone else gets.

If anyone is interested, let me know, I can set up an FTP server for people to drop stuff on, collate it all and make a torrent.  Depending on the amount of data, this of course could take some time to de-dupe, but I have some software that would help out tremendously in this effort.

That was my hard drive.
If anyone else wants to borrow it let me know. I would simply ask that it is returned or forwarded to the next in the line

The hard drive is fairly well organized for what I use it as. Obviously everyone would organize the info to suit themselves

don't know if it has been mentioned yet. Haven't seen it.

I've always just looked at Amazon.com for "free kindle books". Never realized I could search the field for stuff like "free kindle books survival" or "free kindle books fiction", etc to narrow the searches down.

Not everything, but some stuff there.

Don't have a kindle? get Calibre and convert them to .pdf

External hard drive, solar panel. I don't have a dedicated SHTF laptop. if I did, it would be one of those super thin lightweight models. My current laptop is way too heavy to be hauling around on my back

Its an older model about 4 yrs old  not even sure if its still available.. I thought about a tablet, but there are slimmer laptops out there if I wanted to get a dedicated unit.
And of course for simply reading the info a Kindle might be even better

Theres a site called zombieclub.org

No, I wont hotlink to its library of survival texts, because quite frankly there are some texts in there that have nothing to do with survival and are offensive,

If you want to go and check it out, thats on you. just be aware of the adult nature of some of the texts

If a mod feels that that warning is not adequate, feel free to remove the link. Thanks

I just commandeered my wife's old kindle.  8 gigs.  I convert the pdf's to mobi books then send them to the kindle.  I have gone through the list here and cherry picked things that I feel
would be useful.  Once I am done I am going to put the kindle and it's charger in a box, wrapped in aluminum foil, nested twice and then into a sealed Galvanized Trash Can Faraday Cage.
I am building a small solar panel set and a charge controller to recharge batteries and a small inverter to recharge the kindle.  I also plan on constructing larger panels to be placed in a separate
Galvy Trash Can Faraday cage.

If it is done as a torrent-please, please, please make it available as individual files also or at least little 500MB bites (no pun intended) I have a copy of most of these files from when we played pass the hardrive, and it is a significant chunk of data. I would guess it is in the order of a few GB...I tried to organize mine best I could but they were in no way as organized as TC's. Sounds like a great idea to host them, just beware of the bandwith strain the larger (1GB+) files would be.

Just my .02

Joe

Yeah, I have more stuff. The folder is *edited*36 GB of stuff now.

Sorry, once I took the folder with my scanned personal docs out it dropped the total down.
