What was mentioned above is pretty good.

This was the first trout net i got. I keep it as a backup now, but it's still pretty good. Also, you're not breaking the bank.

This is a local company. They are very nice guys and they make real nice nets. Their bags are as hook resistant as I have seen.

OP doesn't want to break the bank. PNW nets look like they break the bank. Unless $150 or more is inexpensive for them?

I was thinking $300 is an expensive net. The PNW nets are reasonable compared to some.

To each his own...

I have
A
Orvis wood 16" basket
Rising brookie net
Fishpond nomad net.

Fishpond stuff never really appealed to me for some reason but after going to Bozeman I noticed a lot of their stuff around and all the guides had them.

I picked up the nomad which is a 22" elongated basket with a mid length handle for $170 I think.

It does everything and is very light weight. The perfect length for reaching out to land fish and unlike the rising nets that I previously really liked this one floats(there is a new Rising brookie net at the bottom of the Gallatin somewhere south of Bozeman)

25 or so years ago I thought my $90 Brodin net was expensive.  Still have it, and its still got the old style cotton net.
Probably time to upgrade, but I haven't fished much the past couple years.
I will make my own this time.
