My dad was asking me what type of gps/sonar to get. He is wanting to replace his garmin 545s, it has been giving him nothing but trouble.



The boat is used in sw Florida,saltwater only if that matters for the sonar.

I like the Lowrance HDS stuff.

I'm a fan of Lowrance, I found it more intuitive than others.  Go to a big place that has demo units and play with them for a bit, you may find a different one that works better for you.

I run furuno and most of my friends do. No matter what you get learn to use it. Many people just use auto settings and never explore what any of these machines can really do.
