Here is a great potato soup mix recipe that I found in the Sunday paper about 20 years ago...

2 1/2 - cups instant mashed potato flakes
1 1/4 -  cups powdered coffee creamer
1 pkg - McCormick chicken gravy mix
2 tsp - Spike seasoning mix
2 tsp - dried minced onion
2 tsp - chicken bouillon granules
1/2 tsp - black pepper

mix together and store in an airtight container - use 1/2 cup mix to 1 cup boiling water - let stand for 3 minutes

I add 1/2 package of bacon flavored Spam Bites for the win...

Please post your favorite just add water / Ziplock bag recipes...

Variation of potato gruel.  I like adding freeze dried fruits and honey as a warm breakfast meal

Instant potatoes make an awesome base for trail cheffery

1/2 cup instant rice
1/3 cup dehydrated refried beans
1 package of Taco Bell’s hot salsa
1 package of Pizza Hut delivery parmesan cheese

Add 1 cup near boiling water and let stand for 20 minutes in a cozie – eat in a flour tortilla or with corn chips for a meal

Equal parts instant mashed potatoes and stove top stuffing, brown gravy mix and a handful of crushed cheezit crackers. Add about a cup of boiling water, mix and serve.

-Knorr Mexican (or similar) rice
-dehydrated chili beans
-single serving spam packet
-Fritos corn chips
-tortillas

Rice, beans, and spam in the bag, add boiling water and let stand. When it's done, add the Fritos. Eat out of the bag or on tortillas. Great hot, hearty meal for winter.

It's best eaten when sharing a tent in cold weather, because of the noxious fumes it produces a few hours after eating.

Omelets in a baggie

Add all the ingreds of your favorite omlete along with the eggs.

Get as much air out of the bag as possible.

smoosh everything up and double bag for the obvious safety concerns.

Toss the bag in a pot of water you're boiling up for coffee.

..enjoy..
