I’ve been out of the precision game for a minute and I’m considering slapping some glass on a newly acquired Remington 700 SA in .308 that sports a 20” tube. Kind of a XM3 inspired build.

My experience has been with a similar set up with a Leupold Mk4 10x, and M24 with same glass. Then a Mk13 with Nightforce 3.5-15 F1. All of those are gone. Now I have an LMT MWS with 18” barrel and a USO 2.5-10 illuminated…and she’s a heavy bitch.

I’ve toyed with moving the USO to the bolt gun and finding something lighter…maybe even a 1-6x for the LMT.

What’s the most high end, tough, clear, etc that can be found for $1500ish on the used market and suitable for an 800m platform? Would prefer mil/mil. Open to suggestions for both the bolt gun and LMT.
