19 days until WI archery season opens (Sept 16).
Good luck to all. Hopefully I’ll get to post a couple pics myself. |

My daughter's youth season lasted ten minutes into legal hours this year. .350 Legend, 180 grain Winchester Deer Season XP. great penetration. In the base of the neck, destroyed a lung and out the hindquarter. She thought she missed, we found her 25 yards away, out of sight because of obstructions.

Got on the board yesterday. Not a monster, but the first deer I've taken when one of my kids was with me, so that made it special. She was running in through the woods, when I stopped her with a call. Shot didn't hit as high as it looks in the pic, took out the top of the heart and she dropped immediately. .450 Bushmaster with Hornady Black is undefeated when I do my part.

I don’t know how each state handles this. In IA you call a conservation officer and he comes to look at the deer(or any antler with a piece of skull attached, meaning it's from a dead deer) to make sure it's not poached. Then the officer can give you a salvage tag for it. |

I don’t know how each state handles this. I called the local conservation officer he said take it home ill drop a tag off at your house. That's pretty much how it works sometimes they come look at them but this year is so bad there are people calling them left and right |

A 4.5 year old 9 point I shot about 10 years ago had a bullet wound that started on it's muzzle, took out his eye, and exited out it's ear. Damn thing was still dogging doe's even though it was obviously quite fresh. . . no scabbing. Tough animals. |

Got a 2x2 mulie yesterday at 250 yards with my 308; Savage Model 10T, 18" barrel with a Sandman-K, and shooting Hornady Precision Hunter which is a 178gr ELD-X. He was facing me and the shot entered his neck and went into his lungs; he crumpled and died instantly. Bullet fully expanded in the chest cavity and did not penetrate into the abdomen. Almost passed on him but it was my birthday and seemed like a fitting gift for myself. I hunt to fill the freezer, not to mount on the wall so I didn't want to risk not running into any other deer the rest of the season. What is funny is that this hill is the same hill I shot a 3x4 mulie from last year.
