I have some gift cards to Sportsman’s warehouse and want to get a new 12 gauge in camo.  I am a beretta Fan but don’t like the size and bulk of the new Beretta A400 Xtreme.   Looking to stay with a gas gun or else I would be tempted by a Benelli M2

I have owned several Beretta 390/391’s and now have a Beretta A300 Outlander that has been crazy reliable but it’s black and I want to add a camo gun to the collection for duck hunting.  I don’t have a need for a 3.5 inch gun.

I have read quite a bit of problems with the A300 Ultima line.  Is the SX4 as bad as some say it is?

What other gas guns should I consider?

I have friends that shoot Berettas (clays).  They're high round count guns and rarely fail, even with 3/4 oz loads.  I'd buy one if I wanted a shell hucker.

Rattle can the A300.

If shotgun is the question M2 is the answer.

I did the opposite of you OP. I wanted an A400 Xtreme but the shop I used to work at had a used A300 Outlander that I walked out the door with for less than $500.

FWIW, I love my A400 Xcel.

I really bought the A300 so my neighbor kid would have a decent blaster to use for pheasant hunting when we go next weekend.

I have been looking for a new semi-auto gas gun and have come to the conclusion that the new Berettas are just not that great. I have several 390s and love them, but the new guns just don't look or feel good. Fit and finish is just not awesome. I am seriously considering the Franchi or Benelli inertia guns. Much nicer firearms.

maybe a Browing Silver?

Go to your dealer and have him lay out your top three choices.  Pick up each with your eyes closed.  When you open your eyes, you should be looking right down the barrel. The Benelli fit the bill for me. It fit like a glove.  I was going to get a Browning or Berretta. But they didn’t fit me. I’m glad I got the Benelli. Great bird gun.

I own an A300 Ultima. It was one of the early ones that hit the stores. They are super popular and I've only talked to one person that had an issue. I've beat on mine for 4 years now in some harsh conditions and it's been 100% reliable.

I also own an A400 Xtreme. Now I understand the A300 is lighter, but I'm not sure I understand your comment on bulk of the A400? I can barely notice a difference in weight and find that the A400 swings better than the A300. YMMV

I run the beretta a400 extreme and really like it. I won a Retay gordion this year and it feels nice but I haven’t shot it yet. Maybe check those out.
