I decided to document our trip this year. It won't be as long as last year but that's life!

Last years map...

This year's journey began on Monday with stops in Vegas and Reno for overnights. We landed in Oregon yesterday.

This years rig...

We will be here for 30 days and will be exploring from our spot every day.

Some shots from the drive thru the forests yesterday. Lots of deer spotted.

Cooked breakfast this AM after getting some bugs scrubbed off and the wheel covers installed.

Some maintenance today and dinner this evening with an ARF brother.

"Hub and Spoke" vacations in our MH are the best! Set up once and you're in business. We had our Fall Color trip all planned and ,,nope,,,the rain up there tore up so many roads that we decided not to go.Attachment Attached File

That's a shame. We are going to do a mix of the hub and spoke and a dedicated area stop.

Next up is Klamath for redwood exploring. Then we head to Sonoma for lots of winery tours and anything else we want to do.

5 cities area will be specific as well, with SB and SD a mix.

No risk there! I don't drive at night and rarely stay anywhere but a park of some kind!!!

Today I'm replacing the water pump on the coach. The check valve/fill valve is not working correctly and is filing the holding tank randomly without being configured to do so.

I'm also replacing the step motor. It's plastic gears are failing. Shit design that depends on the gears to bear the weight of anyone on the steps.

Pump is done. Holding off til the heat breaks for the step motor.

Attending a 3 gun competition locally with an ARF member!

More maintenance completed. Step motor swapped. Now I order parts to rebuild both the water pump and step motor.

Tomorrow we start sightseeing. Dinner with friends at a winery tonight!

do you rent or own the RV?

if rent - do you mind me asking who you go through? im interested in doing a similar scaled down trip but dont want to be restricted to just Texas (there's several places in my AO that rent them).

@superspud - I own the RV. A few years back I rented a small class C from Cruise America. It was fine for what we were doing, but the weeks rent was not something I'd want to pay for a couple of months.

I've also rented trailers from owners. I've had the best luck using Outdoorsy for cost and terms. It will allow you to see availability as well as be choosy on the size and layout to rent. The comms between renters and owners is easy and most have in their adds what limitations they will give you on the rental.

RV cooking! Many folks worry about cooking in an RV, being hamstrung to single skillet meals, etc.

This coach has a generous kitchen. My wife and I can work side by side on meals together. You really are only limited by your imagination and willingness to try new things.

Tonight is a chicken pasta dish I found on my FB feed.

Pics and recipe to follow when it's ready!

The Recipe

The dish exceeded expectations. It had an interesting array of flavors, some of which are from the chicken that I took license from.

Earlier this year we saw a neighbor using a spray on cleaning product so we struck up a conversation with them. We bought the product shortly after.

We finally broke it out this morning and it does a really good job, super easy to use.

Wash Wax All is the product, and if you are looking for something easy to use to keep your RV clean and looking nice, try this stuff out.

Visited Crater Lake and Klamath River the last couple days.

5 hours on the river doing some rafting. We got to see a half dozen bald eagles just a few feet over the river and our heads. Some class 4+ rapids later... we are wiped out!

Beautiful area with deer and tons of different birds. Big Ospreys, Blue Herron, and various ducks. Canadian geese and a Pelican rounded out the day.

One of my favorite meals to cook when we are mobile... smashburgers.
Saute some onion to start. I typically use bacon grease.

Place and cook for 30 seconds or so.

Then smash!

Add onion and cheese, then devour.

This is my greatest breakfast creation.

Brisket breakfast casserole. Fried hash browns, peppers and onion, brisket and eggs, packed and topped with shredded cheese.

Today was Waterfall Wednesday. A few hundred miles on the car, and a few miles hiking to get back to a couple. I expect to sleep well tonight!

Landed in Redwood country! Took the wife to the beach as soon as we got settled.

The trees we've seen just driving down 199 were huge.

Our spot and views...

We close out our stay with another couple of hikes, an evening around the fire pit, and a power outage in the park!

We visited the Corkscrew tree, which is actually multiple trees that intertwined.

We hiked Ladybird Johnson Grove and it was extremely quiet, full of old growth fire damaged trees.

We got back to camp, found a power outage due to the border fire with Oregon around rte 199. If you can't beat em, join em.

I smoked one of the new ARF cigars, drank some beer, and reflected on the last two years of full-time RVing.

It certainly isn't a lifestyle for everyone, but we have enjoyed all the places we've gone, the people we have met, and most importantly the ability to do so.

Next stop: Wine Country in Sonoma!

Settled in Sonoma at a local fairground. All of our campsites this year are mostly devoid of bennies like pools etc. We really aren't planning on spending much time in the camp locations!

A couple meals under our belts and we set out to explore the vineyards.
