Watched a Nation Geographic docu-drama on a power grid disruption with Wifey.

About 10mins into it, she says we need a small radio, 2 more manual can openers and now that fuels cheaper we should stock up.

Now that I'm making dinner she's asking if all the guns are locked in the safes, do you need special fuel for your Dual Sport.

But the biggie was: Now I know why you have hundreds of Ikea candles.

Welcome to ARFCOM, lot's of good, smart folks here. Questions are answered by experts.  You made a significant water resource with 420 gallons.  Nice work!

Ordered some brass fittings and some propane hose to do some custom work to keep hi-pressure propane out of house during a SHTF event.
Rotated 5 gals of year old gas. Replaced with a shot of carb cleaner and snake oil.
Registered for the Apr 18, 2015 - Apr 19, 2015 Anniversary Appleseed
Ordered a 25 ft. 4 wire twist lock 230 volt extension cord for the Champion.  Will use that to tie into a manual transfer switch to make generator easier for sweet wife if I'm on the road during next power outage.
Set up list of goals for 2015 and scheduled for success.
Made Chicken Noodle soup from 4 year old homed canned chicken breast.  Noodles were 2 year old shelf stored.  Damn, it was good.
Will can 12 lbs of chicken breast later this weekend.
Made some taco soup from food storage components and it was great.  Used freeze dried onions, green/red pepper, jalapenos, and celery.  A can each of corn and black beans.  Hopefully the price of beef will come down so we can can some more.
Finished straightening up the store room.
Painted gun storage rack.

Got my first poncho liner the other day. $24.50 was a good price for 'like new'..

I was in the market for a sustainment (MRE) pouch , but none of my local surplus stores carried them. Today I was messing with a Condor Modular buttpack I had, but it was an odd piece of gear. I didn't have much of a use for it. Well, I realized I could fit 3 MREs in it. And the side pockets hold a 1 quart canteen, snugly, but perfectly.

And with some extra hydration straps I have, I turned it into a mini ALICE pack for my 5 year old.

My wife's get home bag was just to big for her and to heavy no matter how much gear I removed and how many times I adjusted the shoulders straps for her.. It just seemed that the larger the pack you buy the more gear you want to put in it and that's partly my mistake but mostly hers because you know how they are they want to have everything with them just in case.... She had picked it out but has since wanted a pack like mine which is smaller in size, so I am giving her mine, which is an Eagle Assault III pack, and I have ordered a Medium sized Alice pack wih frame that I have used before and liked...I want her happy with her pack because I would not want to carry it either if its to heavy, I am really wanting to go to the range to shoot a couple of my guns  but with 12 degree temps I  think I will have to wait for warmer weather.

I've been very consistent with workouts and have increased my running and walking distance (an orthopedic doc suggested I alternate days running and walking due to a knee issue - it has helped!).

Not all today:
working on storage in the blazer, had some long pull out drawers in the shed wasn't using and am making a crude frame to keep them in the truck. Cleaned firearms, going to write down serial numbers soon. Wife did jury duty and said tons of break ins locally and only folks who got their guns back had serial numbers. Going to start getting the truck up on maintenance, did serpentine belt, tensioner and an alternator the other day. Fixed dash light issue. A/C getting repaired this summer probably do the water pump and flush the radiator just for good measure. May try and stockpile some cheap gas in some cans too.always things to do.

Put up another 75 gallons of water, and 6 cans of Mountain House freeze dried food, 150 lbs of dried cat food and bought 6 more Pmags with windows and 120 rds of .45 auto JHP . I thought I had enough ammo but with what is going in America and around the world a few more rounds won't hurt.

I picked up a few of the Reliance 7 gallon Aqua-Tainer plastic water jugs from Wal-Mart today. One can never have too many water storage containers and this particular size bridges the gap between the smaller jugs and the big 30 and 55 gallon barrels.

Worked some more on laundry room wall shelves to hold clutter/misc items so I can have my floor shelves back for canned goods.
Picked up:
6x spaghetti
6x elbow macaroni
5x garden rotini
5x pene
1 flat Kidney beans
1 flat oranges
1 flat green beans (local Kroger has been blowing out Thanksgiving surplus for .50/can Del Monte)
2 flats canned sweet potatoes (normally 1.20+ got for .80)
1 split flat of peaches/pears (waiting for a sale)

This was in addition to the 3 or so flats of other stuff we picked up (and have picked up for a few months now) during our "normal" shopping day. Im fairly sure by now the checkers are on to me and they dont even ask if I want to keep them in the boxes - which by the way...has been a lifesaver transporting and stacking them thus far! Kudos to Kroger!

Mylar bags I ordered last night should be here by Thursday.

I desperately need to work on adding more shelf levels and/or a rotation rack.

This summer I picked up a 50 gallon blue water barrel, food grade, with a brass faucet for $15.00.

Today I was given a MEC 13 gauge reloader with 30lbs of shot, 400 large primers, a couple thousand empties, one box reloaded, 300 Double A wads. The guy wanted it out of his shed, so I helped him out.

The pack worked good in theory, but since he's such a little guy, I couldn't get the sternum strap cinched enough across his chest. The shoulders kept falling off and I wound up carrying his pack in mine on a recent hike.

This will work when he gets a little bigger, but by then, this will probably seem small for him.

Went to a gun show today and didn't spend any money on the overpriced guns there or even any beef jerky.

OTH, I did buy a MOLLE II radio pouch that I'm going to use with my FT-817ND, and a larger ALICE pack w/frame. I'll probably do the Hellcat mod to the ALICE pack.

Today I scored a 150 rd box of American Eagle XM855 at Big 5 Sports. I was surprised to see it on their shelf seeing that no major sporting goods store in my area has any XM855 in stock mainly because of the ATF's proposed ban on penatrator ammo.. Bought 6 cans of Morning Moo powdered milk and 4 cans of dehyrated veggies. Ordered two of the new Ruger BX15 mags for my Ruger 10/22 takedown.

Started work on the new reloading bench by moving my smaller gun safe. Bought some lumber and have a solid core door to cut down.

Finally got around to mounting my shotgun Shot Lock and AR Shot Lock finally that I got for Christmas. Discovered the AR shot lock has some serious limitations to what optics you can run. Seems an Aimpoint Micro would work best. Currently I have my AR pistol in the rack. I had to move the Comp M2 as far back as I could against the mbus rear and pull the covers off the optic. I have to angle it out because the battery compartment is slightly in the way.

I'll have something concocted specifically for the locker in the next 6 months, but this will work find for now.

planning to put up some shelves high in the garage to store my gas lanterns and stove on. May find a few other odds and ends that fit.
