Hi, just wanted to let you know that I am extremely impressed with the quality of my new RRA LAR-15. I've owned several ARs from different makers, and the Rock River product is equal to or better than any of them. Thanks for a great product.

Thank you.

Steve, Im new to the AR world and have a lot to learn. I am looking to purchase the Tactical CAR UTE2, but was wondering how well an EOTech holosight would work.
The UTE-2 was designed around being compatible with most EOTechs. If you'll notice, the base of the rear sight's upright portion is slightly relieved/contoured....that's done to provide better access to the buttons on the rear of the EOTech sight.
The only problem we sometimes see is with some of the longer bodied EOTechs if you try to mount them forward on the receiver, and try to use a handguard that is taller than the receiver...in which case there could be an interference issue. In that scenario, I recommend going with an A4 upper with the Dominator/Dominator2 rear sight/mount. It approximates the UTE-2 style, but the rail portion of the mount raises the EOTech by approximately a quarter inch, which allows lower third co-witness and clearance of just about every handguard. Steve/RRA |
So how long really is that wait for a 9mm upper right now? I'm at 8 weeks this week and am really hoping she arrives soon.
You're right in there at the approximate lead time...8-12 weeksish.
Steve/RRA |
Ordered a basic Entry Tactical through my local dealer about a week ago and wondering if there is going to be an extended wait or are these readily available? Thanx
We build-to-order, so you're looking at 6-10 weeks. Many are shipping sooner than that, but that's the time frame we're quoting right now.

Received my rifle today - must have been in the pipeline already. Very pleased with quality. Best I've seen. Thanx

steve since you check this thread regularlly I'll ask the follow up question I had about my heat shields-upon disassembly the lower heat shield slid out of the retaining tabs, it was not epoxied the (upper shield either) i tried to reassemble but slightly bent the tip of the heat shield, it now fits sturdy well under the tabs, but there is some play in the assembled guard (I don't recall if it existed prior) is play normal? (not bad play(twists)-it's very slight) or should i order new handguards?
In the non-epoxied models, a little movement is "normal". As long as it's holding in place, it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. A little deformation (unless it were to come into contact with the barrel, etc...is nothing to worry about.
Thanks. Steve/RRA |

My first AR15, Entry Tactical, arrived late January '09 after a long 15 week wait...worth the wait...my son who recently returned from his 3rd Iraq tour, loves it...BTW, her name is Seka (you older cats may recognize the name ).....

RRA,
Just wanted to send a proper thank you for helping me finish up a rifle build that was held up because the distributor I went through ordered just the stripped A2 buttstock, instead of the complete buttstock kit, and he wasn't responding to my calls or e-mails. But RRA's customer service was very quick to help, and they even called me back at home to double check what I needed to complete my build. The parts shipped that same day. Some other companies may claim to provide "the customer service that is the standard to which others will be judged," but in my opinion, RRA was really the one that came through for me. Next time I'll be happy to deal with you guys directly. |
I just ordered my first AR. should have it from the dealer in 2 weeks. He has it in stock, but is ordering some goodies for it.

Hi All.
Picked up my first tactical RRA LAR 8 midlength. Bought the eotech + 3x in a package. Looking forward to shooting it one of these days. Will post pics of everything. Working so much I don't have time to shoot. Next month I will be putting time at the range and let you know. I'm looking for set of fold down BUIS. I have a mount on my gas block and it is not the same height and the rear. Do the different models take this into account? If you have any suggestions please let me know. |

Hello, been hanging around for awhile and not conversing much....Still learning a lot here...My name is Tom and I am a Police Officer here in Illinois. I live rather close to RRA so it was natural for me to pick a few of them up....I purchased two RRA rifles in the past few years, one being a entry tactical. This rifle is my duty rifle, I carry it with me daily and it rides in a nice big sky rack between the front seats of my Ford CVPI. The other rifle is a RRA 20 inch standard that I fell in love with since I picked it up at a local Rock Falls gun shop. Thanks for reading, be safe everyone!

Any chance the new PPS will be available in 9mm?
Unlikely, as the PS is a piston system, and the 9mm is traditionally blowback operated.
We'll have to see where the project leads us. I would expect 6.8 would be the next caliber that it will be available in, and then maybe a surprise or two. Steve/RRA |

Just wanted to say you guy's make a great product. And your costumer service is secound to none. Thank you all. LDES

Will the PDS Carbine use standard AR-15 bolts and barrels therefore making it able to convert to other calibers i.e. 6.8 spc? Also, which parts of the system are proprietary, from what I can gather the system will use a "purpose-designed bolt carrier" which sounds like a proprietary system, which isn"t a problem if extra BCG's become available for purchase on the website in the future such as a full-auto version. I understand that we are discussing a yet unreleased product but with the PDS Carbine being made available in the next few weeks it would ease potential buyers such as myself, holiday season is right around the corner, if we had a little more information on the rifle. A breakdown video would be very helpful and would probably increase sales. Thanks.
6.8 SPC will probably be the next caliber released in the PDS commercially.
The bolt is "standard" to a degree (and a normal bolt could be used in a pinch) in that everything is dimensionally the same as a standard bolt, with the exception of there being no gas rings or gas ring groove. Barrels are, again, similar to AR barrels (they start life with the same processes) but are configured a little bit differently for the PDS. The lower parts kit are almost entirely standard AR. The parts breakdowm, including all part numbers, is included in the manual, and all of the parts will be listed and priced in the 2011 catalog. Steve/RRA |

Hey Steve
I can't make up my mind on whether I want a NM A4 or a 20 in. Standard A4. I've seen the .75/1 MOA @ 100 yds standards advertised on the web site. What kind of MOA can one expect from each rifle at the 600 yard line? Thanks |
Steve
Just wanted you to know that I own a LAR 15 and love it. Fine running weapon that serves me well. I had a competitor's gun ordered in a 308 but told my dealer to order a RRA Varmit A4 for me since the other has been on order since thanksgiving. I hope to get this one with in 90 days what does production look like for these ? |

Has RRA ever looked into a 50 BMG gun ? If so when would it come into production ? If not I wish you would.

Gettn ready to order two tactical operators from the super sale for my two sons. I got mine 2 yrs ago and it's a great rifle and I wanted them to start off with a great rifle but was wondering if there was any thought to doing them in od green or fde? Any plans to offer that?

Nothing that I'm aware of. Our normal production method is building to order, in which case subs/upgrades are a regular part of most builds. One of the reasons we can offer th eOperator-2s at the price that we are is via economy of scale....we just build the same product over and over, all day every day. The only variation is at the end of the build when a rifle is assigned to an order and the appropriate rear sight is installed fo rthat order before going out to be test-fired. That's why we don't allow subs/upgrades on them. Steve/RRA |

Steve,
Do all of the RRA LAR-15 Operator2 series rifles have a chrome lined barrel (some OEM's have Chrome-Moly Chrome lined)? Are all barrels pressure tested? Also, are these milspec? I cannot find a complete spec sheet. Is there one available on-line? Can you shoot steel case ammo or will this void the warranty like some OEM's? I really like the Elite Operator2 and you seam to have a great package available for around $1,000 (with a 90 day wait). I just want to make sure I get a great rifle. Sorry for all the questions. |

None of the Operator-2 barrels are chrome-lined. They are all unlined chrome moly barrels. barrels are randomly tetsed within batches. There is no mil=spec for a 16" barrel AR barrel of any sort that I am aware of. If you are asking about interchangeability, yes, they are standard, interchangeable, AR barrels. You can shoot steel cased ammo, but we don't recommend it. It won't cancel your warranty, but please bear in mind that the warranty covers failure of factory parts and/or labor....not ammo. Ammo -related/caused issues are between the rifle's owner and the ammo manufacturer/importer (although we do often get involved to help faciilitate that communication and try to help the rifle's owner). The Elite Operator-2 is a great rifle. We have built and sold thousands upon thousands of them over the past couple years. Steve/RRA |

Steve
I bought LAR-9 about a month ago. It came with a 25 rd modified uzi mag and I bought another one from the RRA website, both work great, but neither have the BHO follower. Then I found a good deal on a couple C-Products 32 rd mags with the BHO follower. Upon research, I found that if I were to use these mags I would likely have a bolt catch failure do to the longer travel of the bolt. I bought a Spikes Tactical buffer spacer and the BHO feature functions flawlessly with the 32 rd mags. Why doesn't RRA include a spacer or an extended dedicated 9mm buffer with the LAR-9? It has a bolt catch and one would have assume that someone that buys a LAR-9 will likely at some time use a mag that has a BHO follower. |
Our 32rd dedicated mags do have thw BHO followers...and bolt catch breakage has been minimal (at least what is reported to us)...I see folks selling neat add-ons report on it, but really haven't seen too mucj of it here. I personally have a 9m with over 20000 rounds through it ands still no breakage or elongated pin holes.
Oh...for use in a rifle length receiver extension, we do offer a stock spacer to get it back to CAR extension interior length. Steve/RRA |

Hey Steve,
New member here. I've got a LAR15 on order with my local dealer. I want to put a receiver end plate for a single point sling on but don't want to void any of the warranty. What exactly voids the warranty? Some insight would be appreciated. |
The warranty covers failure of factory parts and/or labor. It would not cover anything done that was not done byt the factory, or anything directly related to it. If you replaced the receiver end plate and suddenly had issues with the recioil system, the stock, etc...it might be suspect. That saidm if you repalced the plate but had accuracy issues, we probably wouldn't find any linkage and treat it like accuracy (as long as it wasn't caused by ammo, which seems to be the biggest factoir in function and acuracy service requests).

Steve/RRA Thanks Steve I appreciate the feedback. I'll run some ammo through it before I make any changes. Not wanting to tear anything up, can you tell me what color Loctite is used and if it's only on the castle nut or buffer tube too? Thanks again Steve. |

Blue, and shoul donly be on the nut.

You're just trying to get the thread-locker tacky again, no tburn it completely away, so excessive heat isn't needed or desired. A CAR stock wrench will certainly help, but don't have it on the nut while heating it. Lower vise block will also help if it's only you doing the work (holds the lower while you're heating the nut and wrenching on it).

A wealth of knowledge. Thank you sir.

Steve,
I have a barrel question for you. These days. on the RRA website, I see AR's/M4's tend to come with 1:9 or 1:8 barrel twist rate. Are you producing barrels with 1:7 twist rate for the general public? If not, why is this so? Thnanks, Pablo |
We have some 1:7s available in limited configurations a ssubstitutes, and they are standard on our select-fire rifles.
55gr is still, by far, the most prolific loading for .223/5.56mm. It is more accurtate from a 1:9 than from a 1:7, so we barrel for what the majority of th eammo that is likely to be fired from our rifles. Our 1:8, 1:7, and 1:12 offerings pretty much cover the other possible bullet weights typically encountered. Steve/RRA |

Steve,
I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for being on top of this forum as best you can. You do your best to answer everyones questions as quickly and as accurately as possible, and that says alot about the company you represent. I look forward to the day I can post on here and say "My LAR-8 is here!"; hopefully sooner rather than later. |

I ordered a couple of things from RRA in mid December - tea shirts, etc. couple of 20 rounds mags. After receiving order #'s almost immediately, haven't heard word one from them and the phone's always busy and no email contact info available. I know they're busy. I'm at the point I'd just as soon cancel, but have no way to do so. Early December stuff had come just fine. Now it's causing me to wonder if they would have a way to check on a repair issue or report one. A bit perplexed. Suggestions? |

UNfortunately, ARFCOM tqkes a backseat to most of my other functions at RRA. We're here 10+ hours a day, six days a week. The phones are on fo r8.5 of those hours, and we answer them. E-mails are being answered as well, but with about a thousand a day coming in to just one address, let alone all of the others coming in to specific addresses, they can't all be answered right away.
Sorry, but until the overall "big picture" calms down a little and orders, calls, e-mails, etc...retreat to something close to even elevated (as opposed to vastly increased) levels, that is going ot have to be the way it is. Steve/RRA |

Steve/RRA Problem is I can't find a email address on your website anymore. Sure would have been nice to be informed of this. I think your customer service level needs to be raised... like the way you raised you prices. Your excuses are... well just that. |
E mail addy is on their website, and on your order confirmations. There is also a notice that states that prices are subject to change without notice. That so they don't have to eat the cost when their vendors raise prices, which every one of you would do if you had your own business but expect RRA not to do. Also, you the consumer created this frenzied market not RRA or the other gun makers.
I called them today and got through on the 3rd attempt, was treated with the utmost courtesy, as always, and got some very good news which is surprising in this panicked market. I've dealt with them for years and will continue to deal with them despite the arfcomites that want to tear them down. Thank you steve for all you do here, and thank you RRA for a quality product and great customer service. Folks need to show a little patience and understanding these days. Hows that for a 1st post? |
You should verify before posting that their web address is on the site. Their website is down now and has been for awhile for maintenance and software upgrades. With respect to to raising their prices (I assume you are talking about orders already placed with confirmation including back orders) and passing along higher costs to you without your approval. I couldn't disagree more with you. I am on a backorder wait for a chrome BCG at $180. I don't want to be charged more without my permission for a mark-up. Their weborder confirmation also states there will be a 20% fee for canceling your order. Even RGUNS dropped their cancellation fee.
