Has anybody cut down the grid system to fit into one of these pelican cases? I've got a 1720 that is obviously shorter. I just want to make sure that the cut can be done without ruining the panels. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking of the same thing but with a deeper 1600 series case. Making 2 or 3 layers that stack or sit upon each other. I'll have to dig it out from the attic and see what the internal measurements are.
I has originally thought about doing it with foam board insulation, but that obviously wouldn't give the same modular options as daka grid. |

I thought they were going to release Daka grid for the old Pelican case models next?
I also have a 1720 (and a 1750) that I’d use a heck of a lot more often if I could get Daka inserts for them. |

I kind of feel like I'm going to have to buy their case/system but would like to also have the system for my iM3100.
I think if they did one for the 1700, I'd probably could get it to work with a slight shave/haircut. |

Magpul is making the daka grid for the 1700, 1720, and 1750 series pelican cases. Says coming soon on their website!

Well, the inserts for the Plano case, the 1720 and the 1750 are on Magpul’s site now.
And they’re already out of stock on the 1750 |

Saw that they were shipping, actually ordered from Amazon for them. I'm sort of working with them on the issues, but we're still really early and what I think is the process of getting this addressed. I got to say on the front end I am extremely disappointed. For the amount of money that's being spent and for Magpul's deserved earned positive reputation this does not even come close to expectations! This is ridiculous. I've included pictures below to show the issues. It's a shame I spent over $140 for something I'm going to have to cut on to make work. At least that's my plan. I'm going to let this sit for a little bit to see if Magpul has any suggestions from CS.

More pictures. This is after sitting approximately 24 hours as instructed with the lid closed to compress the foam. I totally understand the concept of compressing the foam. Actually think it's a very very good idea! But this is ridiculous. It looks like I'm going to have to narrow and shorten in order to fit properly, that hump in the center merely transferred to the upper lid foam.
And yes I'm using the Magpul factory foam which is considerably, in my opinion, thinner and lower density than the pelican foam. It wouldn't have closed had I used the pelican foam. Attached File Attached File |

Update: Magpul contacted me after I had sent them pictures. We're working on this it's possible that somebody rebadged the box that shouldn't have been sent. I'm going to do a little research myself.

UPDATE #2
Corey contacted me and he said that I was sent the wrong grid. He was already working on an RMA, and said "it'll be shipped out tomorrow". I think this is probably why Magpul has the rep it has. Great customer service so far, very personable CS, and a effort to take care of the issue. Fingers crossed! |

UPDATE #3
Got the correct size grid. Is this expensive? Yes. Can it be justified? That's up to you, for this guy, having multiple rifles it's nice to be able to reconfigure as needed. I can FINALLY use my 1720 regularly. Once I decide on the final setups I'll need to take pictures to keep that at hand. |

Thanks for the update on the 1720 fitment issues. I was holding off buying one for my 1720 until I saw where this went. Might need to pull the trigger now.

Attached File You'll see there are too many blocks on the bolt gun. Those are the extra blocks that will stay in the case for the 308. |

Is that the standard number of blocks that comes with the grid? Or did you buy extra expansion block kits?
