On second thought...what if I got a nice bolt gun and kept my scope? I got $1600 to spend... go! Bolt guns are fun. I wouldn't bother with a .308 though. I was thinking 300wm So what then? |

260 is solid but as far as killing power 270 is going to be a bit better for anything until you get into large Bears View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Do you want to hunt or bang steel. 300 is hard on barrels and expensive. 260 or 6.5cm has the same trajectory to 1000 as 3000 View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

IDK...what's a good "go hunt anything in North America" cartridge? 30-06 but I would go with the win mag 300wm will leave you the cushion of extended range as well. A 165gr bullet will work on everything in that rifle and not be as devastating on meat. It's what I use if not the AR10 or 6.8spc |

Good round but expensive. Burns barrels worse than 300 View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Ok, how about 7mm Rem Mag? Good round but expensive. Burns barrels worse than 300 Really? What causes the barrels to burn? Bullet velocity or the pressure? Bolt guns are a whole new deal for me. I am really leaning toward getting one to suit the 6.5 - 20 Mark 4 and call it a day. I have an exotic hunt on Friday and we can expect some long ranges... $1600 to spend which I "think" will buy me a good rifle. |
