I just got mine. Wow is this thing bright! As everyone else said, not that impressive if you turn it on in a lit room. But I tried it outside in the dark and it lit up the entire interior of my garage from about 70 yards away! Very nice, I may need to get one for each of my rifles!

You can add a Surefire diffuser for use in close quarters. |

batteries: Any rechargable that you would recommend? Will have some standard cr123A set aside incase I ever need them, but just for carrying or playing would like some rechargeables.
soemthing like: http://www.all-battery.com/rcr123a30v750mahlifepo4rechargeablebattery.aspx A 750 mah lifepo or http://www.all-battery.com/rcr123a30v900mahrechargeableli-ionbattery.aspx A 950 mah li-ion. You mention 2.5 hrs until it starts to dim, so if a standard cr123a will hold 1500 mAhr of power, at 600 ma it would be 100% drained in 2.5 hrs. So power draw is probably 500ma or less? wife ordered on for my birthday, anxious to get it! Brian |

Brian You are going to love it, I have two of them now, one on an M4 with a dedicated .22 upper for night time critter eradication and another on a 5.56 M4. |

They come out of the charger over 3 volts and and you can damage the head. This is especially true in a 3 cell light. Buy a few Surefire CR123s to keep on hand. They have a 10 year shelf life. The 2.5 hr figure is correct. I didn't do very well in math but your numbers look close. It dims quickly after 2.5 hrs. |

Marshall, do you know of a red or amber filter that will work with this?

Marshall,
Just got this light (along with your quad-rails and a Tapco foregrip... great bundle for the price) and I have one thing to say about it. WOW. Solid build and remarkably bright. It is easily the equal of a few other lights I've had/have/used... Threw it onto my dedicated .22lr Spikes rifle and I'm a happy camper. My training rifle now feels and acts much closer to my duty rig. The Larue QD mount LT-170 will fit you say?... Even better. I was pleasantly suprised how bright this light was inside the house... decent flood for a search light and pretty good spot. It really does impress outdoors... clearly lit up my shed well over 100yrds from the back deck. I was planning on relegating this light to "practice" gear status... I may tote it along to work for a few weeks and see how it holds up... may need to order another light or two if things go as I expect. |

Im really impressed by the reviews this light is getting, but I want a strobe option on my AR. Are there any plans in the future for a light w/ strobe option?

I bought the package deal for 119.95.
primary arms calls it the Magpul-PA Weapon Light Bundle. I don't know how to link. This package is very good for urban problems. It will light up my back yard. Its not a streamlight or surefire but bang for the buck its hard to beat.It comes with everything you need to mount your flashlight to a carbine, with thumb(finger) switch. Happy camper here. |

Anyone got a pic of the light on indoors/outdoors? This. I'd also like to know if anyone's taken one through a carbine course. I'm about dead set on this light, as I want a good light with a lot of throw, this seems to be the ticket |

Quoted:
Does it fit in the Viking Light mount? No. You can replace the clamp with a LaRue QD but the mount itseld does not come off. As a result there is no place to use a ring mount |

It's proven reliable thusfar. Able to be submerged a bit thanks to me dropping it in a river... also has taken a few tumbles onto concrete with only minor mars on the finish. As far as light throw.... it's on par with the best of the "big" names. It's noticably brighter than my 5.11 Light for Life light with a much tighter beam out to 150-200yds. For the price, I honestly have never seen a better light. I'll continue to carry and use it at work... still pondering ordering a 2nd one. |

got my light a couple week ago and love the darn thing....
think i burnt my retna lookin at the light lol its friggin bright!! |

So I got stiffed when I bought a light on the EE and I still need a light.
So I'm thinking of buying this one. Will it accept any type of momentary press-on switch instead of the click on tailcap? Is the tape switch momentary or constant? |

The tape switch holder fits fine if you want to use it. You need at least a 5- slot rail to mount the light. Here is a link to the recommended 7 slot. LINK |

Marsh,
Got the light...I love it. The setup with the diffuser is a great dual purpose lighting system for around $150 shipped. Great flood indoors. Great range outside..... One question....do you know a way to secure the diffuser to the light a little tighter? It's loose.....I can slip it off with my hand while the clamp is locked. I'd just like a little extra security. The light is definitely worth the $100. Not sure if the diffuser is worth $50. For being a surefire is sure does seem like they could have done better with it for the price. |

Make sure the diffuser is all the way on before you close the clamp. The one I have fits pretty tight. Let me know if that works. If not I will look for a heat resistant tape. |

Doing what you said and playing around with it seems to have helped.
Thanks. |

Would you happen to know if replacement heads such as the TNVC TX-4 600 lumen, will fit this light?

Marshall, is the FM15 a diffuser also, or just a filter? It reduces the output but does not spead it like a diffuser. |

Bought a red filter, diffuser and IR filter, and don't have the light yet. Hurry up and get the YHM specter length customizable in stock.
What grips are you guys using for the tape switch? |
|
I have an AFG, I put the tape switch under the light, at 3 o'clock. I hit it with my fingers.
Question about the light... It seems to be a clone of the Surefire M96, at least in body. But it outperforms it out of the box. Will it fit its accessories? Like the XM07 http://www.surefire.com/XM07-Remote-Tailcap-Switch-Classic-Millennium? Also....Marsh....if this light is shock proof, water proof, has a longer runtime and higher output compared to high dollar lights, why recommend the higher dollar lights? Inferior/Superior materials?
|
|
LaRue556
The XM07 tail cap does fit. I have one with that and a FM14 diffuser. The Surefire switches are superior to the ones included with the PA light. The head threads are not the same as a Surefire. The PA LED head is designed for very long throw. It has a good following as a hunting light. It will out perform the older incandescent Surefire heads. When someone asked what is the best HD light why do I recommend a Surefire Scout? The Scouts already comes with Surefire switched, the new Surefire sealed LED heads are more shock resistant and with the mini Scout the batteries are captured on both ends. The first of the older Surefire Millennium series that was updated is the M952V. I used one a night shoot a few weeks back. It has a LED head that can switch from IR to while light with a twist. It is a make the best for military use design. $575. My goal is to make the best under $100 weapon light going but you have to compromise somewhere to do that. Surefires are a no compromise weapon light. Marshall |

Just broke down and ordered my UWL, as part of the Magpul kit. I coughed up for the express mail shipment so hopefully it will arrive Thursday. I'm heading out Friday morning for a trip to southern Ohio with my wife for a weekend of hiking, shooting, and camping!
