Done.

Needs to be cross posted in GD. Needs some of that big 2020 Lobby Day energy.

Hold on wasn’t that video made 4 years ago? Also the AWB seems to have failed or maybe I’m reading it all wrong? I think it’s getting passed for a vote on the senate. Not sure what’s going on. Looks like the house passed it and it’s on the way to the senate but the one from the senate is still not voted on. No idea what is going on.

Can someone from vcdl clarify?

https://vcdl-lis.org/#:~:text=VCDL's%202024%20Legislation%20Tracking%20Tool&text=Carrying%20a%20concealed%20handgun%3B%20permit,handgun%20openly%20within%20the%20Commonwealth.

Must be a bot that made that post to cause confusion and chaos. Let’s focus on what is really going on. Still a good idea to email him but make sure the bills are current.

I've updated the OP.

Yeah the same thing happened at the time of that Colin video. The AWB we have today is the same exact one they tried to pass last time word to word. And last time the senate was the main choke point. I’m not sure about this time but we need to be emailing I agree.

Sent an email. It wasn't elegant and didn't contain a 5 or 6 figure check so I doubt my opinion matters much.

Crossover day is February 13th so the Senate hasn't seen passed House bills and the Senate hasn't seen House passed bills.

I’m with you…

“Honorable Governor Youngkin,

My wife and I (both supporters of you and your administration), deeply beg of you to protect our Second Amendment rights here in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Progressives and the like are slowly trying to turn our GREAT state into a socialist Utopia with no regard to our Constitutional Rights.

Please support our Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms as the founders of our nation intended.

Quite a few founders of our country hail from Virginia, and were leading advocates of our Nations Constitution.

Very Respectfully,”

We see how it goes… sad had to say “beg”.

So what address is everyone emailing directly to the Gov?  I can only find the above and it has predetermined topics headings.

That's where I sent my email and received back an automated "Thank you for contacting the Office of the Governor of Virginia. Please know that your correspondence has been received and submitted."

I'm planning to send him an email everyday, from now until the session is closed

Today's email:

Dear Governor:

I implore you to veto any bills which reach your desk that strip the citizens of the Commonwealth of their right to keep and bear arms!

Thank you

Any indication anyone is reading these other than to make a check in a column?   If so, that’s a great idea. My email was short and sweet; now I regret that.

How can we push this campaign? I think it’s better to prepare the governor now, than to try and do so last minute after something gets sent to his desk.

I told him in my email that if he votes for gun control, I will not vote for him in his senate run.

I sent an email.

At this point it looks like the AWB bill is going to pass. It already passed the Senate version of the bill so I don't see why they wouldn't approve of the House version.

Also there's a really nasty bill where you have to have training 5 years prior to purchasing a firearm. That means you have a 5 years waiting period before you can purchase anything from what I'm reading. That sounds pretty whacky to me.

Overall though at this point we're at the mercy of the governor and all we can do is write emails and hope he does the right thing. I'm thinking expect some of the anti-2a bills to pass through though. I'm not 100% convinced he won't sign an AWB because of the grandfathering clause that GOP seem to love.

I want to also reiterate that only 39% of our voters came out that caused this. Less than half of Virginians decided for the rest of us. Let that sink in and if this isn't a wake up call this November and every election going forward, I don't know what is.

I seriously doubt Youngkin will sign the AWB. I do think he would sign some bullshit (all of it is bullshit) like the no carry in restaurants that serve alcohol and maybe the no ffl's within 1.5 miles of a school, you know to try and appease the Karen's who gave him is Gubernatorial win.

Also any pro gun voters that don't show up in '25 deserve the same treatment as the commies. There is no doubt, they aren't hiding anything now, they want us disarmed, they want to take all the guns.
However, abortion will rule the election and the GOP will lose.

Keep in mind only 39% of voters came out this election. Abortion may have been a driving factor but it only shifted the turn out a little to rock into their favor. We really need a good turn out next election cycle. In some ways, the bill passing may be a benefit to gun owners because it'll motivate people come out and vote next time.

I always assume your correspondence is nothing more than a tick mark on a spreadsheet with "for" and "against" in the top row.

Having said that, here's my daily "against" email:

Governor

I implore you stand-up for freedom and VETO ANY bill that comes to you this session which strips the peaceful citizens of Virginia of their rights to defend themselves.

Thank you

How about emails to the Lt. Gov? Maybe Sears can help put a boot in his ass?
I will admit my ignorance as I don't know how much sway a Lt Gov has on a Gov though.

How about some clarification on what is still active? It's hard to understand the updates though. All I understand is something passing the House and Senate then the governor signs it. But what about when it's handed off to a committee? Does that mean it's going to get amended or is it shelved?

I guess I'd like to know what I can focus on when I send an email instead of a blanket statement, you know?

Oppose any and all gun control. It's that simple. None of it is acceptable. Youngkin needs to know he will lose gun owners as he tries to win Karen's for his senate run.
The Democrats will pass every single piece of anti gun legislation that is brought forth.

Expect some of the bills to pass though. I'm not sure which ones. The AWB is a toss up that he'll sign it or not. Since there's a grandfathering clause and the fact he's running as a moderate, he might sign it. He also might sign the waiting period for gun purchases as it has some support from the businesses that rent firearms.

It's important that you call the governor and let your voice be heard. Only 39% of voters voted in the last election. That means a huge chunk of people are unheard of or don't care. You really need to go in there and speak and say something.

From what I understand right now the bills switched between the house and senate. So each will vote on the bills passed from each chambers. Then it will go to the governor to sign. Expect to know by end of March if he vetos any bills. He may get it on his desk before hand but regardless every bill he signs won't go into law until July 1st.
