Passing through and spending night in May. Looking to stay at an RV/cottage place in Baton Rouge next to a casino. Be off river rd next to L’Auberge.

2 adults 2 very young kids. Maybe same area on the way back.

As far as safety/crime/no go zones… anything to consider? Wouldn’t be going anywhere other than maybe visit the casino. Would be coming in and leaving on the highway.

Obscure or other gun laws to be aware of?

Also, looking at palmetto island state park for the return trip. Area safe?

Thanks for any help

If y’all are staying in BR, the L’Auberge RV spot is probably the best spot. There are some RV spots before and after BR that are nice otherwise it’s typical rental spots. With 2 very young kids, I’d bring them to the Knock Knock museum. Lots of cool stuff for kids 10 and younger. I’m not aware of any funky guns laws personally.

You’re good to go on guns.

Don’t venture out away from the hotel area. The stretch on Nicholson north of campus is a no go. Same area further east towards the lakes is ok (like around the knock knock place).

If you can make your ingress/egress by heading straight east/west to from the casino back to I10 directly that’s the best way to travel but a little more traffic. Don’t head north to the interstate via Nicholson during night time hours. Daylight is ok. Especially mid day, all the crack heads are asleep.
