I purchased a handgun for my wife last Christmas. She has asked if she can keep the weapon with her. I was wondering if I need to / should tranfer ownership from my name to her name and how is this done in Mississippi.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV (or on the internet), but my understanding is that the gun is just like her wristwatch or purse. Nobody cares who bought it. The state does not keep records on ownership.

We also can carry most anywhere except schools and actual court rooms (when court is in session) without a carry permit and without any hassle.

She's good to go as long as she can legally possess a firearm.

Even if you did actually transfer the gun at a FFL a trace will always come back to the original purchaser's 4473 when the gun was purchased new.

Thank ya'll for the info. I will let her have it AFTER she takes her enhanced conceal carry course.
