I had to renew my license recently and was pleasantly surprised to see they'd gotten rid of the open book written/computer knowledge test.   Walk in, wait a few minutes, hand the license to the woman, answer a few questions, take a vision test, pay and leave w/ the paper license.    When I renewed it 6 years ago things were unusual because someone got shot at the kansas tax location next door while I was renewing my license so I don't remember all of it but my memory tells me we used to have to fill out an open book written or computer test of basic driving knowledge like when you have to dim your lights w/ oncoming traffic or someone ahead of you.   When did they get rid of that?
