It appears at least one person is reporting receiving their Assault Weapon Certificate approval by email. See this reddit post. They indicate they submitted last September.
Edit to add: Supposedly the email the person on reddit received: |

Interesting. I hand delivered some AW apps to Deirdre directly at DESPP. Shes incredibly nice and very helpful. I asked her about timeline for getting these back and she said to check in end of June to see how things were progressing. While i dont agree with any of this, im glad that people are starting to get them back.

How were you able to hand deliver to Deirdre? The Trooper at the front was reviewing, copying and time stamping copies.

The portal for registration wasnt working right for me, so i emailed her about it, made an appointment and dropped everything off to her - i went through each one with her and then, like you said, the trooper at the front entry put their badge number and time stamp on each one. |

Went to check the status of my application and there was no icon for AW’s. Anyone else notice this or have it happen?

Back in 2014 there were articles saying 50k registered AW's. Example 2014 article: https://ctnewsjunkie.com/2014/01/17/police_register_about_50000_assault_rifles/ PS. The estimate back in 2014 was less than 25% registered. |

People waited 2 to 3 months last time around in 2014 before approvals started being received. Then like now, once people start getting approvals they'll be posting to various CT gun centric discussion forums like here, or on the ctguns subreddit. If one is impatient or cannot wait, they can try contacting SLFU, who claims for AW registration questions that email is the best contact method: [email protected], and see if SLFU will provide any sort of a response. |

Got a letter today (US Mail) from the State Police, 9/12/2024 saying they are in receipt of my
Assault Weapon Certificate Application Form, DPS-414-C. Second paragraph : "At this time, we are requesting you to provide a Letter of Authenticity from your firearm's manufacturer to verify that your firearm was made before September 13, 1994 and classified as preban." When I get this letter (Letter of Authenticity), I have to mail (US Mail) it to them along with the "Assault Weapon Certificate Application Form, DPS-414-C" and proof of purchase. (copy of DPS-3-C, with a date of sale: 3/2016) which they enclosed with their letter. I contacted COLT for this letter. (E-Mail) I also did a s/n lookup on 3/2016 and it came up Year of Manufacture: 1977 Wondering if this copy I have off Colt's database at 2016, would satisfy the State Police ? Question, has anyone else experienced this ? |

Usually it was providing SLFU a copy, on the firearm manufacturer's company letterhead, of the age of the firearm. Unfortunately some companies would charge a small fee to provide such a firearm serial number search and then send a letter back on company letterhead. In this day and age, not sure how many companies would still do that, provide company letterhead document, rather than just a email. Suppose one could simply provide a copy of the email from the company (showing the firearm company's sender's email address) along with a copy of the serial # info from the company website as proof and see what SLFU does this time around. |

This is impossible to do with lots of manufactures. Lots have stopped giving letters of author and if its chinese or russian (or the ilk) ya never going to happen. China kept extremely poor to no records. Plus its china and some American asking for this, all ya be getting is hahahahahaha LOL from them.
