Aw fuck, I sold my bolt gun a while ago.
All I have rifle-wise is a SCAR now. That'd be fine, buuuut it needs moar ACOG and I need more dollars for said ACOG. |

Ill drag the smoker and cook. So when is the official sign up?!?! I was already in and he had to start talking smoker. We have to pick a date first. The poll is moving slowly. Details and rules have to get worked out as well. When all that is done, I will give warning in this thread, and start a new thread for the official sign up thread... or maybe we will just pile onto this thread. Either way the HTF will have the advantage for signing up for this. |

Anyone is welcome to shoot any of the rifles, ill bring a SDM and a SAMR. Bring factory ammo. The AR10 is 6.5 creedmoor. If I have my optics in line by then ill have another AR10 16' 308.

Quoted: It's a short 6 mm cartridge like a 6br but longer, ballistics similar to a 243. It's in a barnard single shot action in an Eliseo chassis. Iron sights of course. I got a picture somewhere http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/panzer1973/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-06/6xc-cartridge-comparison_zpsy4otryuy.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p34/panzer1973/2013-10/A3C41B0C-EC15-4A68-8237-2DA1CE749EE4_zpssegbbe0x.jpg View Quote |

Can't you shoot it with irons at 50yd? Or just throw a bushnell banner or tasco scope on it and R&R. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

cpl gets first dibs on the shooting line. He is cooking, so he gets a 'cut to the front of the line' pass from me. Don't like it? Let him know, and I'm sure he can cook your food extra crispy. (Hey, why is there a wallet on the grill?)
Crazy question, but is anyone interested in camping out? Heated outdoor shower is available. Plenty of camp space for tents and hammocks. If it is super hot, an ac'd camper is on site for a cool down area. remember.... This event is being held to give people a free place to shoot the Moa challenge and to support the shooting sport. Some of the sharpshooters of the HTF are already posting in this thread. While it is a competition, I expect those who have the expertise, to help out those with less experience. I am very happy to see that sentiment already posted in this thread. Smack talking and good natured ribbing are to be expected. You can shoot multiple classes. If there is time, you can re-shoot. There will be a time limit - I'm afraid we just don't have the time to give everyone an hour to shoot your string. How much time? Don't know yet. Still working on that. Opinions welcome! We can put up some extra targets so you can check your zero at the line. You could also take your cold shot here if you want. Please bring out pop up tents. I would like all shooting positions to be in the shade. Would anyone shoot sitting from the bench? If not, We can pull a couple boards off and go prone under it. There will be a limit on how many people can come out. This will be based on estimates of how many rounds we think we can get done in the day. The range.... Shooters will be facing west. Very slightly downhill to the 100 yard stop. Large trees line the range, so very little crosswind. If the targets get dark in the afternoon, I may be able to get some lights on them. I hate posting from a phone. Excuse the typos please. |

When is sign up? Looks like I can maybe make this. Got stuff planned for that evening, so depends on when I can get back home. So, any address close to location I can mapquest to get an idea on travel time?
Would be great to see some friends I haven't seen in a long time plus meet some of the new guys. I can bring a good spotter and some dialed in rifles with ammo if anyone wants to try this but feels lacking in their setup. Can also bring a couple 10x10 easy-ups. Mark |

100% IN
Weekend off. I can be out there Friday PM to Sunday if needed. |
|
I would be down to camp, like always I suppose. Hammocks, back of car, bale of hay under a tarp.

Once you look through the sights, it's the same, if you can see it, you can engage and hit it with iron sights.. Distance means nothing. You would be surprised how accurate iron sights can be and at what distance. Your eye and your brain are amazing machines that can and will make the impossible seem possible. ;) On The Guard Team,( and well any Service Team or HP shooter,) we shoot AR15 service rifles (A2) 200-600 and AR-10's 600,800,900,1000 yds, same sights. The black is just bigger so you can see it.. ;) you should try it sometime. It's not as bad as it sounds and what you learn in raw marksmanship will absolutely transfer to shooting scopes rifles and any other rifle or shooting sport. Like I've said before, " if the man can't do it, the rifle can't either." Only one way to get better is to do it.
Damn the posts went fast.. I was replying to the SCAR shooter and irons. Of course I absolutely am willing to help coach as much as I can. I have taught SAFs a few times, it's part of my job to help when I can. I'm just hoping drill weekend doesent get in the way. |
