Not sure if this is legit - it sure looks like it, but t appears Ken Hackathorn is having two Det-1 Kimbers sold on GB. I wonder what these will go for.
I didn’t realize there were still samples out there. Markings look right to me, but I am a newb. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/920866888 |

HARSTAD, Norway - A U.S. Marine with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division fires downrange amid an immediate action drill during exercise Platinum Ren at Fort Trondennes, Harstad, Norway, May 13, 2019. Exercise Platinum Ren is a theater security cooperation training evolution held with the KJK to sustain mission essential tasks in harsh operating environments and strengthen coalition partnerships. The main technique the Marines executed was “buddy rushing,” a system where appointed Marines fire at the target, while other Marines rush in the designated direction. After reading this off and on for years, I decided to join. Started with a SA from GB. I ended up installing a Harrison Design front sight, because I don't know how to silver solder. I didn't know how to stake a front sight either, but I got 'er done. A Bar-sto barrel would have been nice too, but budget and I haven't done many barrel installs caused me to decide to keep the SA barrel.
Still needs to be re-parkerized or a matte blue. Kinda thinking about applying oxpho blue to the bare steel and shooting it as is. Not sure. Not a 100% correct version. But I did it my way. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Kind of a mixmaster, but thought someone who wanted to build the variant with the Operator slide might be interested: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/924553583 |

You can either make them have quarter-sized beavertail gaps and look authentic, or do a great fit and blend and have them look too good. If you do the latter you can always buy an extra beavertail and drop it in after addressing the “trigger arm” thingy |

Ok so I apologize for maybe not scouring this thread for an answer, but what is the typical barrel finish used for these MEUSOC guns?
Blued? |
