I still have some rear sights available. PM me if you want one. I am also looking around for the safeties in hopes that I can find one. If I find anything I will share the link or pass on the info.

So its not exact, but how close is Novak's NXT thumb safeties to the Kings in appearance? To me it looks similar to the Caspian alternative (which I believe has been discontinued). So its essentially a look-a-like to a look-a-like... Anyone else know of a viable look-a-like to the King 201a?

Is the stainless safety correct? Thought it had a different part number.

Did the first 3 gens us the PWS sights?

It appears $200 for the pair, I guess that's not awful. Still pricy for a used, not the best ambi safety.

The 201-A is the correct safety, the stainless could just be blackened using the same method as the barrel.

Depends on which "variant" your looking for. The earlier styles using the millett front sight and pws rear sight, you would probably either have to buy from someone who has one already made or join the mob looking for parts. As for the newer style, make one yourself, or again buy one off someone else who already owns/made one. I'm not sure if any manufacturers still make them, I know Berryhill doesn't. Might check Benchmark Precision or Sams Custom

If it were $200 for the pair I would have offered to go in on it with someone. I know the part is crazy rare but $200 for one thumb safety still seems extreme

May be talking out my ass but how does the Wilson #563B compare with the old Clark grip safety? Needs to have the bump ground off, but it doesn't have the groove for the hammer, and the beavertail is a little shorter than standard as I think I've seen (I can have bad judgement when it comes to pictures) with the Clark.
Thoughts?

I saw this on Ebay today, and was curious about the grip safety.

It says JTM/John Masen parts, which do not have the best reputation, but that grip safety looks pretty close to a Clark.  You can tell by the hole placement that it's not one of the drop-in models from their website.

I wonder if John Masen is casting a GS similar to the Clark/WC66 and if it is in current production?

Nope. That safety is either a King's 206 or a copy. Olympic/Safari Arms make one like that too. It has proprietary radius and tail shaped different than Clark and Wilson 66. Don't know about JTM making one.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned, but there's a bunch of older Wilson beavertails on ebay (they aren't mine). They look like they could easily be made into what is needed for the MEU(SOC). Nevermind, I see the link was already posted. Has anyone given reshaping them a try yet? Please post pics if you have.

New Inland 1911A1. Not cheap but the frame with marking placements similar to WWII M1911A1. It would be great option to build a MEUSOC replica.

Once in a blue moon one will pop up on eBay, otherwise I know Lear60 said he found some a while back but to the best of my knowledge I got his last one . I know its not 'proper' but you could try one of the millett dual crimps that come up on eBay and either file or mill it down to the right height.

[Last Edit: PWS2112] [#26]
In the past I have used a .312" height Millett sight.  The ones I always found had a wide stake.  This required a little patience on a mill to narrow the stake to fit the slide.   Then after I installed it I would mill it down to .225" with the appropriate slope (3°).

Remember there were a limited few that Kimber offered to original Det-1 members in addition to the ones that the USMC bought.  A total of 370 built.  A few hundred went to the unit and the rest went to the unit members.  Some of those pistols have made their way on the market obviously.  Hobbs got his from a family member who was in Det-1

Ben, do you run across any of these pistols in the armory out there in Pendleton?

I haven't seen any DET 1s or CQBPs. I have had a couple of the Colt 1911s, but since they are still warrantied we don't get them all that often.  It would be cool to have one come across my desk though.

So I've got the majority of the 'special' parts (thanks to Lear and mlin for their help), but I am still looking for a King's 201a (I know, big surprise). If any of you gents come across or have an extra one that is more or less unmolested, let me know if youre willing to sell.

Unfortunately, you probably will not find a naked Kings 201A anywhere.  If you do, it will probably be stainless also.

So my suggestion and this is how I found mine.  Look on Gunbroker for old custom pistols that may have one already installed on it.

Unfortunately , you will have to buy the pistol and then you remove the 201a and replace it with a different safety and resell the pistol.  That's what I did.  The 201a cost me about $400 between the difference of what a paid for the pistol and what I sold it for.

Good strategy. Right now there are two full 1911s on Gunbroker that have King's ambi safeties. Unfortunately they are both over $2,000
I'll keep my eye open.

Yeah, I remember you saying something to that effect when I got the front sight from you. Figured I could try putting the word out here, maybe find a bloke like the one on GunBroker who finds 3 brand new ones. I was unemployed at the time otherwise I would have got one then.

What is the model number to the rail that is on the M45?  There is a picture of one on page 47 it came from the Marsoc book.

I have one. I have used one with a X200A. The light sits noticeably lower than it does with a railed frame. I didn't like it as much as having a dedicated rail. It uses a proprietary slide stop. You'd have to a holster made to fit, since it is much bulkier than a Dawson or Novak's add-on rail, much less a Kimber, Colt, Springer etc. railed frame.

I ended up buying a Desert Warrior after trying the MR07 on my Combat Elite, which still bears scuff marks on the dust cover.

If I was looking to add a rail, and not for this sort of period-specific reproduction build, I'd look to getting a bolt-on rail from Novak's http://www.novaksights.com/products/lightrails.html It's less expensive, does the same job better, looks better, and I can get it in SS to match the Combat Elite's frame.

USMC Colt,
There are some great close ups on page 32 of this thread, unfortunately beyond those I don't have any others showing them. From what I have seen, the operator slide M45 pistols are identical to the other M45 pistols except in the slides which Springfield was able to provide.

I have those pics from page 32.  They are great pics just wondered if there was anymore since this is the last that we will see those for the most part.

I do have a question about the dual recoil spring  that is on the M45a1.  Is there a way that we  can get those?  I was going through some deployment pics and ran across some pics I took of them.  I wasn't able to shoot the M45a1 I want to try out the recoil spring.

I saw on Colt's website you can buy the inner recoil spring from the Delta Elite. It's not specifically for the Rail Gun, and its specified for 10mm, so I'm not sure how well it would cross over to a .45, but that's just what I've seen.
