Wife was buns up and kneeling in the yard doing some weeding and got within about 6" of Mr. Copperhead.

Ruger Mk1 bobbed by Jim Pixley with Sparrow can. Two .22 subsonics and it is now a good snake.

If it was just me that could've been bitten, I would
not have shot it, but I'm a lifelong snake lover.

I can't find fault with anybody killing a
venomous snake if they believed their
family was in immediate danger.

Flying stinging/biting insects deserve
executions at first sight.

ETA - Have you ever tried snake shot?

I believe CCI makes .22LR snake shot.

I can't recall trying rimfire snake shot.

Good shot. That was not a guaranteed headshot with that setup.

Nope, not a precision rig by any means. 1st shot was in the abdomen when it was coiled. 2nd shot got the head. However, It does carry well in an an old Eagle nylon tanker style shoulder holster.

They do but it works best out of a revolver or a bolt or lever action rifle. They usually won't run the bolt on a semi-auto.
