Just picked up my first one of these, and I was sorely disappointed in the trigger (having previously owned a Mk II). The take up is pretty gritty and the break leaves a lot to be desired. Do these smooth out over time, or is an aftermarket trigger in my future?

The Volquartsen trigger is where it's at

They do smooth up a little. That being said, you should be looking at Volquartsen, Kidd, or TandemKross.
I really like the TandemKross Victory trigger (with pre- and post-travel adjust) with VQ internals and a mag-disconnect delete. |

Get the Volquartsen accurizing kit for the Ruger MK IV.

Volquartsen.
Replace the extractor as well |

Another vote for Volquartsen
Get the kit with the extractor and firing pin. This is the black trigger kit, they offer a silver trigger also. https://store.wirthweinguns.com/Volquartsen-Ruger-MKIV-Competition-Kit-VC4PCK-p/vc4pck.htm Watch YouTube or the Wirthweiguns website video on how to install. It’s not to bad. |

While you’re at it, get the competition bolt as well.

Like everyone said…. Just pour another $400 into your $400 gun and it’s great
I like the TK stuff, takes the trigger down to around 2.5# nice and crisp Attached File |

Never underestimate... overkill is underrated

Without breaking the bank, get the TK blast back (mag safety delete) and Victory Trigger, then adjust the pre/post travel. Between the two of those you'll have a way nicer trigger for decently under $100. Don't get me wrong, I have VQ triggers in other stuff, but I'm perfectly fine with a crisp 4# trigger on my 22/45.

Also for Tandemkross. I replaced both my Mark IV's with them. I have the Mark IV and 22/45 Mark IV, you need to buy the correct trigger for which it may be.

Ended up getting one of the blemished (cosmetic only) VQ kits on EBay. We will see how the install goes. I’ve done trigger swaps on HK pistols, including the LEM trigger, and hopefully the experience translates reasonably well.

Ruger made an awesome target pistol with a horrible trigger. Then Volquartsen makes the perfect target trigger for it. Genius! Seriously I love my Mark 4 with the Volquartsen accuracy kit. |

Got the kit today, but it’s missing the pretravel screw for the trigger. Install will have to wait.

VQ has excellent customer service. They have always treated me right over the years. Give them a call and they will take care of any issue.
Side note, if you add the ebay blem triggers to watch list they will send a 10% off offer after a couple days. $90 shipped |

I took the lazy route and sent my frame to VQ for the trigger job. They rec'd it Tues and are shipping back on Wednesday.
Can't beat that!!! |

I do the same thing, only with my local armorer. Well worth the $30.00 he charges me. |

Got the trigger installed last night. Took about 1.5 hours. It’s a huge improvement over the stock trigger and was flawless for 150 rounds today. I got the blemished set for $90 shipped. Definitely worth the upgrade!

the apex trigger is very interesting and I'm going to upgrade my mk4 2245 with it. I'm not a fan of serrations or checkering on triggers.

I put a Volquartsen trigger in my MkIV target, did the bolt upgrade too and it's a damn fine trigger.

Once again Ruger Produces another firearm that requires the owner to spend a pile of money with someone else to make it reasonably functional

I buy a 100k truck, they try to sell me stuff before I get out the door. Hell I paid 20k for a side by side and it doesn't even come with a roof or windshield! |
