Looking to add a dot to my old mk2 22/45.
It’s not drilled and tapped for a rail. I’ve found the EGW mount for $50, anything else I should look at?
Will probably add a Holosun 407/507

If you choose to put a pic rail on.  Weigand makes a couple options.  I am looking at this for the same pistol.   My thinking is I can put any red dot or scope if something goes wrong and won’t be stuck to one option.  Weigand was one of the best ones back in the days.

I have an older MK2 not drilled

I think some time ago someone recommended a guy to drill it but can't find it

The EGW Mount fits in the rear sight dovetail, that will keep the sight lower.
That’s the direction I’m leaning.

DPP makes a cheap mount for red dots.  It sells for $23 on Amazon.  It uses the rear sight dovetail.  I recently purchased one but haven’t mounted it yet as my MK2 is off getting threaded.

I used a B-Square rail for my 22/45. I found it at my local hardware store.

But it was over 20 years ago and I think $40 then.

I've never taken it off.

Look on Ruger’s website . I thought I saw on there that they will drill and tap for a nominal fee .

Maybe consider buying a Tac-Sol barreled upper receiver that is already drilled and tapped and has co-witness sights already installed.

Just a thought.

I had bought a Lobos mount a while back since I liked the blended look, haven't got to installing, and now I realize my MkII probably doesn't have the mounting holes

The Tac-Sol upper is a gun. I would rather use what I have.
