@Infidel4life11

Is that recent production? Looks nice.

I still regret selling my ADCO-spec RRA years ago.

Yup new production. I love it, one of the nicest 1911s I’ve owned. I’m also proud that you new what it was.

I used one of those years ago for a full custom at SACS. Those old GI Mil-Specs
are excellent base guns.

RRA 1911s are a hidden gem.

That looks great! It’s seems, at least from initial impressions, it’s going to live up to that reputation. I’m gonna run some rounds through it and see how it shoots as is while I accumulate parts.

Looks slick. Green and stainless steel make a great color combo.

A man after my own heart. Next time I’m at the range I’ll have to take a picture with my old man guns too.

Eta pic thread -

Changed the most annoying thing about my TRP (the FLGR) to a GI Wilson setup:

And it’s new holster (JM Custom Kydex):

My old Kimber Classic Custom purchased in 1997. I replaced the original polymer mainspring housing with a steel part from Wilson Combat the other day; it dropped right in and the bottom rear radius matched up pretty good with the frame as is. I also replaced the original radiused MIM firing pin stop with a square bottom Harrison part. Pretty easy to fit. Surprisingly, that original firing pin stop was a Series 80 part. As I recall, the early Kimbers used small parts by Chip McCormick and I guess they just used what they had.

Nothing too fancy, picked up this new SR1911 10mm last week.  Put a black hammer and trigger on it, plan on putting a Dawson Precision fiber optic front this week or next.  It's wearing red/black VZ Operator II's.  I haven't shot it a lot yet, but it shoots good.

Ha, yeah, a little bit plum. I've thought about getting it refinished or having some custom work done to the gun a few times over the years. But it's my first 1911 and I've decided to keep it basically as is with the few minor changes I've made here and there. The Novak's are close to 20 years old though, and long dim, so I might swap them out at some point. Maybe a gold bead front and plain black rear. I like the 10-8 rear, but missed out when he was making them for Kimbers. I'm really chuffed with how well the Wilson mainspring housing fit though.

I'll never refinish mine. I got it used, it was an LEO trade-in, about 20 years ago. You can see each finger worn through the finish of the front strap of the Officer that carried it. I do need to get a few things tightened up on it.

I installed the DP front fiber optic last week, much better now.  I think I like the red/black VZ's a bit better on this gun, but the black/white burl is okay.

Snagged one of the PSA RIA 10mm they had on sale.  Thank God this thing is heavier than most 1911s I've shot.  This thing is a beast!

Is that a battleworn finish, or is that honest wear? Either way that is gorgeous.

Thank you.

I’m in my late 40s and it was the second handgun I bought when I turned 21. My first was a Belgian FNH/Browning Hi-Power (plastic/polymer pistols were blasphemous to me at the time) which, in my youthful wisdom, I gangsta-fied with blindingly shiny nickel plating. Oof! Hindsight…

That Colt’s been carried on and off for over 25 years, been through flood damage, used for competition shooting, and’s been an all purpose beater ever since.

The numerous coats of holster-worn Rustoleum, and the pitting and virtually nonexistent parkerizing underneath are all the real deal.

I’m sure it would be worth more had I kept it in better shape, but it wasn’t very expensive to begin with and I never intend to sell it. Some of my uglier guns are some of my favorites.

… even my hideously sparkly Browning 9mm, that thing’s friggin’ fugly.
